We had a great time on the Invasive Plant Walk & Talk this morning! Thank you so much to Shawn Jalbert of Native Haunts Nursery for leading our participants through Emmons Preserve to identify invasives and learn their impact. Lots of great information and a beautiful morning spent outside!

Slides 5 and 6 are multi-flora rose and Morrow’s honeysuckle, both invasives.

This program is part of a collaborative effort between Kennebunkport Conservation Trust and Kennebunk Land Trust to manage invasive plants in our properties and learn together how to best address this issue. More to come!

Yesterday we welcomed the opening of the new headquarters for the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge on Brown Street in Kennebunk, just down the road from our office! The tremendous building and surrounding landscape is open to visitors to learn in their new exhibit hall and recreational trails. A lot of hard work work made this project happen, and it was a well deserved ribbon-cutting ceremony that just-so-happened to the be on the great Rachel Carson’s birthday!

We were honored to celebrate with some of Maine’s congressional delegation! Angus King Congresswoman Chellie Pingree

Thank you so much to our volunteers who worked hard out Tributary Preserve this week installing water bars across steep parts of the trail. These bars will slow erosion of the banks, and act as steps and footings as hikers navigate the inclines and declines of the path. We are so grateful for your time and effort, and for the easier trial experine these bars will bring! πŸ’šπŸ™

While you're out there, check out the new story-book Trail Tale along the Tributary Preserve Trail. You can read the story "Little People of the Dawn

🌎 Happy Earth Day from Kennebunk Land Trust! πŸ’š

We love this planet and this town for its quiet forests, winding trails, salt marshes, and the simple moments of connection it offers.

It's Earth Day all week for us! Join April 24–26 for a community trash pick-up event - collect trash in your neighborhood, beach, or other Kennebunk location. You can drop off trash for no charge at the Town of Kennebunk Transfer Station in the trailer they are providing for this event. It’s a simple, meaningful way to protect local wildlife, care for our shared spaces, and ensure these special places remain clean, healthy, and welcoming for everyone.

Thank you to the Town of Kennebunk Public Works for supporting the trash clean up. Trash must be in bags, and deposited in the trailer outside of the Town of Kennebunk Public Works entrance - NOT the one to the dog park! Only trash collected as part of the roadside or beach clean up can be deposited. Please use caution on roadways, and no hazardous trash!

Stop by, lend a hand, and celebrate Earth Day in action. Every piece picked up makes a difference! Earth gives us so much, and today is a reminder to give a little back. πŸ’šπŸŒŽ
