When we talk about what it means to have representation, I take it a couple of ways.

To make sure we are represented in priorities. To make sure we are represented in lived experiences. And to make sure we are represented with leadership that is able to combine the two.

Priorities = platform. That’s easy enough. For me you know I support an all-of-the-above approach to energy, rolling back the nickel and dime attitude the state has taken to tax policy (run through my opponent, Tax Committee Chair Rep. Sayre), investing in our children’s educators and education, and building up our infrastructure with broadband so our calls don’t drop. That’s just the start.

Lived experiences is a whole other breed. It’s about the lessons you’ve learned. It’s about the hardships you’ve faced and the perseverance you’ve adopted to keep going. It’s a framing that life is bigger than yourself, it’s your family, your neighbors, and those who you’ll never meet.

Representation in leadership combines the two. As a son of a single mother I have seen the absence of policy to support families that would have made my childhood easier for my mother, and they are the lens of lived experiences I take when thinking about the policies I’d propose and prioritize that would help my own young family today with my wife, Kacy, and three young children.

As a veteran I have the lived experience lens of service over self, and the need for both objectivity to see through to the mission and the value of teamwork to accomplish a shared goal. That’s the representation in leadership I bring, the one my family, yours, and all those across Senate District 34 deserve, and it’s the representation in leadership I don’t see affirmatively being applied during Rep. Sayre’s time in the State House.

Did you know Maine instituted 32 new taxes last year? And his message is affordability. As for these 32 new taxes, more on that soon…

Many when running for office say some combination of “it’s time for a new generation of leadership” when they really mean it is time for a new type of representation.

My resume has the ability to do the trick. With over 14 years of Air Force service, time as a combat veteran, continued service as a JAG in the AFR, someone who is raising a family here, a part-owner of a local small biz, a law firm partner who represents both York and Franklin Counties, and with being the type of fiscally prudent and socially moderate leader needed in Augusta, I have the skills to do the job.

It is my hope that I’ll earn your trust to do that job on November 3, and that is my family’s hope too.

Maine’s housing crisis isn’t theoretical. It’s arithmetic.

A recent report found that a Maine minimum-wage worker would need to work 86 hrs. a week to afford a modest two-bedroom apartment. (See link 🔗 in comments👇). That should be unacceptable.

While Augusta continues to debate the problem, I believe we need to focus on practical solutions that actually make it easier for Maine families to live here.

Here’s what I would prioritize differently:

Build more housing by getting government out of the way. 🏡

My approach to affordable housing means reducing unnecessary regulations, streamlining permitting, and working with municipal and community leaders to empower communities to make thoughtful decisions about growth. Government doesn’t need to build every home, but it shouldn’t make building one unnecessarily expensive or difficult.

Increase the Homestead Exemption for seniors and veterans. 🇺🇸👩‍🌾

If you’ve spent decades paying taxes in Maine, or served our country in uniform, you deserve a fighting chance to remain in the community you’ve called home. I support increasing the Homestead Exemption and strengthening property-tax relief for seniors and veterans.

Make the Property Tax Fairness Credit fairer. 🤝

I would support removing the age and income requirements for the Property Tax Fairness Credit, while responsibly structuring the program around the actual property-tax burden. I would also consider making renters eligible. A working family shouldn’t have to reach a certain age, or fall below an arbitrary income threshold, to get help when property taxes are consuming an increasing share of their household budget.

This is where I believe leadership matters. 👨‍💼

I’m not running for the Maine Senate to simply vote the way my party tells me to vote or defend the status quo because that’s how Augusta has always done things.

I’m running to ask a simple question:

Is what we’re doing actually working for the people who live here? Weigh this question and affordability concerns with the fact that my opponent, Rep. Sayre, is the sitting Chair of Taxation and has served the committee for the past 4 years.

If a minimum-wage worker needs to work 86 hrs. a week to afford a two-bedroom apartment, the answer is pretty clearly, no.

We need more housing, but to lower building costs. Therefore, we need to consider removing the bloated regulations and improving the timelines on the necessary regulations. In addition, we need property-tax relief that actually reaches the people who need it.

That’s the kind of practical and objective leadership I intend to bring to Augusta. 🤝🫡

You remember that guy, Graham Platner, and his commercials where he would just sit there with an actor in a coffee shop or diner? I’d love to have coffee with any Democrat who hates me, anytime. But, it would need to be iced coffee, that’s my only term.

***Let’s Play Fair, Electricity***

I support clean energy in Maine, solar included. If you want to put panels on your own roof, that’s your choice, and I respect it.

But “net metering” isn’t free. When someone gets full retail credit for power sent back to the grid, someone else pays for it, right now, that’s your neighbor’s electric bill. Seniors on fixed incomes and working families who’ll never own solar are subsidizing those who can afford to buy in.

I want honesty about who’s paying. End retail-rate subsidies for large-scale and commercial solar. If we want to help Mainers with energy costs, do it directly, not buried in everyone else’s bill.

Clean energy should stand on its own. Maine’s energy policy should be fair to everyone. ⚡️💡🔌🤝🫡

***Marriage Over Party***

First day of 1st grade drop-off for our oldest! 🎒❤️

A lot of work goes into preparing for a new school year, from our teachers and school staff to the incredible volunteers who give their time through our PTAs. This year, my wife Kacy Fallon stepped into a leadership role with our local PTA, a team that already has such an active group of volunteers who care deeply about our kids. Her desire to serve others is remarkable.

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it: the only reason I can run for this seat at this point in our personal and professional lives is because I have Kacy’s support. I couldn’t do this without her.

We both talk a lot about the need for a new generation of leaders to step up throughout the country and state, younger leaders on both sides of the aisle. For instance, in this race, my opponent is a grandfather who has 20 years on me.

I’m a father of three young kids, our family is dealing with affordability concerns, and I believe it’s my generation’s turn to step forward to lead and problem solve.

But that starts with my wife’s support and of course it ends with voters on November 3rd.

Let me say this, when I talk about bipartisanship and objectivity, I mean it.

I’m married to a Democrat. The woman who raised me is a Democrat. Most of our friends are Democrats. I’m certainly not going to stop listening to people because of their party affiliation. And I’m certainly going to choose a heathy marriage over partisanship!

My number 1 priority is affordability—decreasing the cost of living and improving the overall quality of life for everyone. My opponent, Rep. Sayre, is the sitting Taxation Chair and has had the opportunity to make bipartisan votes to impact affordability for all the past four years, with his party in control the whole time mind you, but his voting record demonstrates this has not been his top priority. And Mainers across the state on both sides of the aisle continue to experience these affordability challenges.

I’ll call balls and strikes, listen to both sides, and advocate for the cost of living policies I believe will do the most good for the people of this district—regardless of which party proposes them.

But I will not drive to Augusta and vote 100% my party, such as what Rep. Sayre generally has done, merely for partisan reasons, because I would be a sellout to voters, and to the closest people in my life, like my wife.

I’m not running to be the most partisan person in Augusta. I’m running to be effective.

Now, on to first-grade day one pick-up! 🤝🫡📚🚌

***What’s In The Sauce???***

Not a whole lot of drama, just a whole lot of pragmatism.

Republicans up and down the state in Iowa won handily in 2024, with the overall state legislature ballot a whopping R+23 by the end of it.

Fast forward to the 2026 midterms and Iowa’s Democratic nominees for Governor and U.S. Senator are in a position to flip their respective seats.

State Auditor Rob Sand (D) is up an average of 4.5% over Republican nominee and businessman Zach Lahn in his race for Governor, including a Sand +4 poll as recent as August 23 from my alma mater Suffolk University. The Democrat in 2022 lost by 18 and even Fox News labels this race a “Lean Dem Flip.”

State Rep. Josh Turek (D) is looking to beat the 7-point defeat by a Democrat in 2020 who then lost to now-outgoing Senator Joni Ernst (R). He faces Republican Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (R) in November, and the same Suffolk poll has him down 4%, within the margin of error, and with 10% of voters responding “undecided.”

So what’s the deal? Where are the inroads found? This is not an endorsement of Sand or Turek, but like our Dem/Independent/Republican Peltola/Osborn/Collins feature from before, these elections offer us insight into broad-coalition campaigning…and the success they have.

Sand said this week he has voted Republican before. Turek’s latest ad said he’d work with Republicans on policy covering the U.S.-Mexico border.

The “secret sauce” to their potential flips is just the bipartisanship we used to enjoy in this country. The kind that has gotten Baker, Romney, Sununu, Ayotte and more elected as Republicans statewide in blue parts of New England.

That type of bipartisanship is what I bring to the table for Senate District 34. An “all of the above” approach to energy, a holistic mindset to budget reform, and a can-do attitude to tackle the issues of infrastructure, education, and affordability.

I’d be honored to earn your vote on November 3, because it means you care too that tomorrow’s politics is closer to the big tent problem solving that actually gets stuff done. 👊🤝🫡

Me: Same here, my wife and mom are Democrats.

Lady: what did your mom do wrong with you? (DEAD SERIOUS)

Me: Yeah, I’m having the time of my life running as a Republican right now.

Lady: laugh (inaudible through the screen)

Kill ‘em with kindness, right?! 🤷‍♂️

I still have hope that there are people who care about a candidate’s overall qualifications, record of public service, leadership, and character more than the letter next to their name. I believe this because I have met and received support from some wonderful and kind democrats and unenrolled voters over the last nearly eight months.

And then there are people carrying so much anger that they’ve lost sight of what public service is supposed to be about. That’s unfortunate, but it only reinforces why I’m running the way I am. 🤝🫡
