News Release

Kennebunk Police Department Responds to Domestic Violence Incident

On the evening of Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 8:24 p.m., the Kennebunk Police Department received a 911 call from a resident on Caly Hollow Road reporting a domestic disturbance involving threats of violence with a firearm.

Upon the officers' arrival, the victim expressed concern that the individual may have been under the influence of substances and had access to multiple fi****ms within the residence. She also reported that the individual had prevented her from contacting law enforcement during the incident.

Based on the information provided and the potential threat to public safety, officers established a perimeter around the residence and attempted to make contact with the individual. Multiple attempts to communicate by telephone were unsuccessful; however, officers confirmed that the individual remained inside the home.

The Kennebunk Police Department requested and received the assistance of the Southern Maine Special Response Team. After deployment, the team successfully got the suspect to come out of the house and surrender to the police.

As a result of the investigation, Walter Hearn, 75, was charged with Domestic Violence Assault, Domestic Violence Criminal Threatening, and Obstructing the Report of a Crime. The safety of the victim, responding personnel, and the community remained the department’s highest priority throughout the incident. The Kennebunk Police Department would like to thank the Southern Maine Special Response Team and Kennebunk Fire Rescue for their assistance during this incident.

The Kennebunk Police Department reminds community members that assistance is available for individuals experiencing mental health crises, substance abuse issues, or domestic violence situations. Anyone in immediate danger should call 911. Individuals seeking support may also contact local crisis services and/or domestic violence advocacy organizations.
