The mission statement of the Kennebunkport Police Department is to provide progressive, highly trained, and properly equipped personnel to work with our community, to protect life through devotion to the citizens and visitors we serve. 📢 Beach Safety Advisory 📢

There have been shark sightings off of Gooch’s Beach in Kennebunk and Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport. Due to increased shark activity along the coast, beachgoers are encouraged to remain alert and use caution when entering the water.

Please be aware of your surroundings and avoid entering the water if you observe unusual marine activity. Kennebunkport does not have a lifeguard on duty and advises the public to swim at their own risk. If a shark is sighted, calmly exit the water, alert others nearby, and call the Police line at (207)-967-2454 to report any activity.

If you or someone you know needs a place to cool down, the Kennebunkport Police Department conference room at 101 Main Street will be open as a cooling center today.

Please stay hydrated, limit time outdoors if possible, and check in on neighbors, friends, and family members who may be more vulnerable to the heat. Stay safe!

Words cannot express how grateful we are, but we'll give it a shot...

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Tuesday for our 2nd Annual National Night Out! Seeing so many families, friends, neighbors, and visitors come together to enjoy an evening of fun, laughter, and community is what this event is all about.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our amazing sponsors and vendors. Your generosity, time, and support made it possible for us to offer this event completely free to our community. We truly couldn't have done it without you, and we are so grateful for your partnership.

Thank you as well to our officers and dispatchers, fellow Town staff Town of Kennebunkport Kennebunkport Recreation Kennebunkport Fire Department Kennebunkport EMS, and everyone who volunteered and worked behind the scenes. Building relationships and strengthening the connection between us and our community is the heart of National Night Out, and because of all of you, it was another wonderful success. You all worked so hard, and yet the happiness on everyone's faces was the greatest reward we could have asked for!

We also want to give a very special thank you to our own Community Resource Detective Haley Maguire. Months of planning, coordinating, and hard work went into making this event a success, and Haley's dedication was the driving force behind it all. We are incredibly grateful for everything she did to bring our community together for such a memorable evening.

The countdown is on! In just ONE WEEK, we'll be gathering for the Kennebunkport Police Department's 2nd Annual National Night Out!

Bring the whole family for an evening of FREE fun, food, and community! Come meet your local police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, Town departments, community organizations, and local businesses as we celebrate what makes Kennebunkport such a great place to live. Because we are stronger together!

Activities include:

🚓 Dunk Tank – Dunk your favorite police officers!
🎪 Two inflatable obstacle courses
🎉 Carnival games and family activities
🎵 Live DJ
🚁 LifeFlight helicopter
🎨 Face painting
🚒 Fire Department hose demonstrations
🚛 Touch-and-explore vehicles and equipment from Town departments and first responders

Recently, we have received concerns regarding an Avian Flu outbreak at Goose Rocks Beach. We have reached out to the Maine CDC and the York County Epidemiologist to confirm that there is currently no Avian Flu warning or epidemic in Kennebunkport or the surrounding area.

Please reach out to the Maine CDC (link/info below) if you have questions. If you have concerns about your health, please contact your healthcare provider.

Also, please remember to always use caution when interacting with any wildlife, and never touch any down or sick bird.

We're Hiring!

The Kennebunkport Police Department is looking to add to our team! We currently have openings for a full-time Police Officer and an anticipated full-time Dispatcher.

We have a great group of officers and dispatchers with a wide range of experience who genuinely enjoy working together. We work hard, support one another, and still find time to have fun, even with the challenges that come with shift work.

We're also fortunate to serve a welcoming and supportive community, making Kennebunkport a great place to build a career in public safety.
