Please note that, until further notice, all board and committee meetings will be held at the Kennebunkport Police Station (101 Main Street). This is necessary while we are replacing the outdated audio/visual system at the Village Fire Station.

Upcoming meeting affected by this change:

Public Hearing on
Proposed Amendment to Chapter 160-11, Parking Control Regulations,
of the General Ordinances

The Town of Kennebunkport Board of Selectmen will conduct a public hearing on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Village Fire Station on the following proposed amendment to the Kennebunkport ordinance – Part 1 General Ordinances, Article II Traffic and Parking Control, Chapter 160-11, Parking Control Regulations

Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will be continuing their reconstruction of Route 9 this fall. After Labor Day, they will be working on the section of Route 9 stretching from Cooper's Corner in Kennebunk to Maine Street in Kennebunkport.

Prep work will be begin next week on September 1 and 2. Limited on-street parking and traffic delays should be expected during this time.

Following Labor Day the roadwork will begin. The work will include the milling of the road, the installation of ADA accessible pedestrian ramps at all crosswalks, and the repaving of the road. Work is expected to last several weeks.

Our staff will meet with contractors at the end of each week to receive updates on the coming week plans so that we may keep the public up to date.

Maine Healthy Beaches Program and the Town of Kennebunkport is posting an Advisory Alert

Elevated Bacteria Advisory has been ISSUED at Colony Beach by Kennebunkport on 08/25/2026.
Advisory Comment: Recent enterococci bacteria resulted above Maine’s safety threshold (104 MPN/100ml).

This advisory will be in effect until Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 4:00 pm. We will be retesting the site tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26th.

Late summer is shorebird season on the Maine coast. 🌊 🐦

Every year, migratory shorebirds stop along our beaches, including Goose Rocks, on journeys that can span thousands of miles. They come here for something essential: food and rest.

Around high tide, when feeding areas are covered by water, shorebirds gather on beaches to rest, or “roost.” Being repeatedly startled into flight costs precious energy they need for the journey ahead.

The good news? Giving them a safe place to rest is simple:

🐦 Stay at least 100 feet away from flocks.
📸 Use a telephoto lens instead of approaching for a closer photo.
🐕 Keep dogs leashed and away from resting birds.
🔇 Avoid loud noises or activities that cause birds to take flight.
🌊 When possible, plan your beach walk for low tide, when shorebirds have more room to feed.

If the birds take flight because of your presence, you’re too close.

Share the shore this migration season! A little extra space from us can make a big difference for shorebirds resting up for the journey ahead.

Looking for another way to help? Maine Audubon’s Shorebird Ambassador program at Goose Rocks Beach is looking for volunteers to walk the shoreline, monitor migrating shorebirds, and chat with beachgoers.

Shorebird migration season is underway!

On Thursday August 27th from 2:30 – 3:30 PM join us for a guided shorebirding walk at Goose Rocks Beach in collaboration with Maine Audubon. Learn about how Maine’s beaches support shorebirds on the move, some of the species you’ll likely spot, and how you can help us monitor these important species. There has been an unconfirmed shark sighting off Timber island. Due to increased shark activity along the coast, beachgoers are encouraged to remain alert and use caution when entering the water.

Please be aware of your surroundings and avoid entering the water if you observe unusual marine activity. Kennebunkport does not have a lifeguard on duty and advises the public to swim at their own risk. If a shark is sighted, calmly exit the water, alert others nearby, and call the Police line at (207)-967-2454 to report any activity.

🩸 Don't forget that the Public Health Department is hosting a Blood Drive today, August 11, from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM at the Village Fire Station at 32 North Street!

For the second time in history, we are in a National blood shortage. Currently, they are triaging who are receiving the emergent type O blood. Please think of your family, friends, and those who you care about, because it could be you in need, having to wait. Blood is given to those in a trauma, burn victims, cancers patients, those in an emergent loss of blood (gastric bleeds) and routine to those who are anemic. This does not just affect adults, but children, also.

Please consider taking the time to support the Red Cross tomorrow.
