The Kennebunkport Conservation Trust recently received $72 from Florence & Haven Baker-Koch, who, along with their parents are part-time Lighthouse Keepers at Goat Island Light station. The siblings split their earnings from their very own Goat Island Light souvenir stand, with the Trust! We are grateful for their support!

This Saturday September 13th is Maine Open Lighthouse Day. Come visit us around high tide - You’ll need a boat to make your way across Cape Porpoise Harbor, but our keepers will be ready to greet you! Goat Island Lightstation, which is owned by the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust, is actually open to visitors throughout the summer, unlike many other lighthouses. But this special day sponsored by the American Lighthouse Foundation allows visitors access to many of these historic properties across the state of Maine.

You know what they say in business… location, location, location! These two assistant keepers started Goat Island Gifts back in early July and as of today, they have earned over $100 selling an assortment of sea glass, shells and other gifts from the tides! Make sure to stop by on your next visit to contribute to their fundraising efforts for Kennebunkport Conservation Trust!

There’s an additional step or two involved with moving demolition and debris off an island. This morning provided perfect moving conditions and we took full advantage … we had the tide, two sets of hands on the island, two sets of hands on the mainland, a boat to do the transporting, and a truck to then transport to the transfer station. Three FULL boat loads - GONE! Way to go Tim, LeeAnn, Kyle, and Kim! And Mike whose swift work with a circular saw made short work of further deconstruction of the back deck.

Brandon spotted this visitor while we waited for the tide to come in yesterday morning. We’ve seen so many moon jellies in the past couple weeks, but this was the first Lion’s Mane.
