The winds continue to shift and push smoke into the area today. Expect smokey conditions throughout the day and evening as the winds continue to shift and push smoke in and out of the city and surrounding areas.

Visibility can be impacted so please be aware of changing conditions as we move through the day.

If you see an organized column of smoke or flames please call 911 immediately. Fire conditions remain dangerous despite the brief rain we received yesterday.

The Kennedale Office of Emergency Management will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they are available.

Hey Kennedale!! The Public Safety Open House is scheduled for Saturday October 3rd from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kennedale Fire Station!!
We have a lot of exciting activities planned for all ages including a helicopter landing, the firefighters cutting open a car, Hands-Only CPR training, Sparky the Dog and Nat the Knight, an electricity safety demonstration by Oncor, VIN etching by Tri County Auto Theft Task Force, as well as snacks and snow cones, station tours and much more!
Be sure to mark your calendars and tell your friends and neighbors!
We'll see you on Saturday 10/3 from 10 am - 1 pm at the Fire Station!

Due to a shift in the winds from the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto County through southern Tarrant County we are seeing an increase in hazy, smokey conditions in the Kennedale and surrounding areas. We expect to see these conditions remain through the evening and possibly tomorrow.

We recommend avoiding outdoor activity if you experience breathing issues.

Fire conditions remain very dangerous. A burn ban continues for unincorporated Tarrant County. Avoid using any heat or spark producing equipment, avoid idling your vehicle over grass, and be alert to fires capable of growing rapidly.

Kennedale and Mansfield Fire Departments are receiving multiple smoke investigation calls.

If you see an organized column of smoke or fire please call 911 immediately.

There is a lot of smoke in the air due to the Ross fire. It is expected to continue through the evening.

Wildfire smoke and reduced visibilities are being reported near the Ross Fire (located in Palo Pinto/Jack counties). Visibilities as low as 1-2 miles and poor air quality can be expected in any dense smoke. The smoke will continue to spread south/southeast through the afternoon and evening. Drive with caution, slow down, and leave extra space between you and other vehicles.

Thank you to the Bang Energy ladies who dropped by Station 59 today and donated cases of Monster Energy drinks for our firefighters!!

Also, thank you to Sarah Johnson and Andrew who brought a bunch of cantaloupes to the station as well!!

The Kennedale Fire Department is sharing information from the National Weather Service on staying aware of heat illnesses during this extreme heat we are all experiencing. Please take caution for your pets and family. Stay hydrated.

Extreme Heat Warning issued August 18 at 12:54AM CDT until August 18 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Fort Worth TX

* WHAT...For the Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 107. For the
Extreme Heat Warning, temperatures up to 108.

* WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, until noon CDT today. For the Extreme Heat Warning, from noon today to 8 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high
humidity will increase the risk for heat-related illnesses to
occur, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor
activities.

Take extra precautions when outside by staying hydrated, wearing lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, and limiting strenuous activities to the early morning or evening. Check up on relatives and neighbors. Never leave young children or pets in an enclosed vehicle, even for a short time, as temperatures can quickly rise to life-threatening levels. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk when outdoors, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 911 ASAP if you or someone you know is exhibiting signs of heat stroke. Extreme heat is dangerous, especially for those without reliable shelter. Limit time outdoors during the hottest time of the day, typically from 2 to 7 PM, rest in the shade when possible, and drink plenty of water. Locate nearby cooling centers through local resources or dial 2-1-1 in Texas.

Promotion of Fire Engineer Chris Lidster to Fire Lieutenant.
Chris Lidster – Start date with Kennedale FD of July 10, 2006 - 20 years with Kennedale Fire Department.

Promotion of Firefighter Mark Douglas to Fire Engineer.
Mark Douglas – Start date with Kennedale FD of January 16, 2024 – Engineer Douglas has 13 years within the fire service.

Appointment of Fire Marshal to Hansen Paskell.
Hansen Paskell - Start date with Kennedale FD of March 2, 2020

Tarrant County has issued an outdoor burn ban. There are dangerous fire weather conditions and fuels are very dry. There is an extreme fire danger currently.

Open burning is prohibited in the City of Kennedale. Violations can include a Class C Misdemeanor with a fine of up to $2000 for violation of City Ordinance. Additionally, violation of the burn ban can include a Class C Misdemeanor with fines up to $500.

Please be careful and safe as conditions are currently dangerous if grass or brush fires start.

Please make sure no chains drag under your vehicle, do not park in tall grass, and call 911 immediately if you see grass or brush fires start!

Tarrant County has issued an Outdoor Burn Ban for all unincorporated areas, effective August 13, 2026.

Outdoor burning is prohibited without approval from the Tarrant County Fire Marshal’s Office. The ban will remain in effect for 90 days.

Violations may result in a Class C Misdemeanor and a fine up to $500.
