The Explorer Program offers a unique opportunity for teens ages 14 to 18 to engage with law enforcement while developing valuable life.

Through hands-on activities, training, and instruction, Explorers gain insight into the criminal justice system and learn about the many career opportunities available in law enforcement. Participants have the opportunity to work alongside officers, learn policing techniques, and gain a better understanding of the important role public safety professionals play in our community.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a police officer? Are you interested in learning more about law enforcement, leadership, and serving your community?

The Kenner Police Department's Explorer Program offers a unique opportunity for teens ages 14 to 18 to engage directly with law enforcement while developing valuable life skills that will benefit them for years to come.

Through hands-on activities, training, and instruction, Explorers gain insight into the criminal justice system and learn about the many career opportunities available in law enforcement. 👮‍♀️👮‍♀️ 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐄𝐅 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐘 👮‍♀️👮‍♀️

The Kenner Police Department was honored to welcome 9-year-old Lake Riley as our "Police Chief for the Day!"

After being officially sworn in, Chief Lake quickly got to work. Her day included touring KPD headquarters, meeting with officers and staff, visiting our K9 team, learning about drone operations, touring the jail, and even sharing donuts with Chief Conley.

𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚'𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙪𝙨...

Before her day as Chief, Lake played an important role in helping detectives solve a recent hit-and-run case. While in town visiting her grandparents, Lake witnessed the incident and had the quick thinking to record video of the suspect’s license plate, providing investigators with valuable information that helped move the case forward. Officers went to the address where the vehicle was registered where they were able to identify the driver and issue a warrant for his arrest.

𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝟗 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐥𝐝, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤! Throughout the day, Lake asked great questions, showed incredible curiosity, and demonstrated a genuine interest in learning about how police officers serve and protect the community. Her quick thinking, awareness, and willingness to help others are qualities that every police officer strives to possess.

We couldn't be prouder of Chief Lake, and who knows…based on her investigative skills and enthusiasm, she just might have the makings of a future police officer. In fact, we may just have a job waiting for her when she gets older!

The Kenner Police Department was honored to assist in escorting our incredible Special Olympics Louisiana athletes to the airport as they begin their journey to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota.

These athletes represent the very best of determination, perseverance, sportsmanship, and courage. Through countless hours of training, hard work, and dedication, they have earned the opportunity to compete on a national stage, and we could not be prouder of their accomplishments.

The KPD is cheering for you every step of the way and know you will represent Louisiana with pride, determination, and heart ❤️❤️💙💙

Chief Conley is the kind of leader who weathers every storm right alongside his people, never asking anyone to do something he wouldn’t do himself. He pours his heart into everything he takes on, stands firmly for justice in every circumstance, and never backs down from a challenge. Whether it’s leading from the front during difficult times, lending a helping hand, or simply bringing laughter with one of his trademark jokes, he reminds us what true public service looks like.

Beyond the badge, he’s a devoted family man, a loyal friend, an animal lover, and someone who treats the men and women he serves with like family. His compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to this community inspire all of us every day.

Today we proudly recognize the men who serve in one of the most important roles of all — 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙙𝙖𝙙.

Every day, our KPD officers put on the uniform and dedicate themselves to protecting our community. But when the shift ends, many head home to another equally important responsibility: being a father, role model, coach, teacher, protector, and biggest supporter to their children.

The same qualities that make a great police officer — integrity, patience, sacrifice, compassion, and commitment — are the very qualities that make a great dad.
Whether they're working nights, weekends, holidays, or missing family events while answering the call to serve, these fathers continue to show up for both their families and their community.

Today, we thank all the fathers of the Kenner Police Department for the sacrifices they make and the impact they have both in uniform and at home 👮👮💙💙

⚠️ Weather Alert ⚠️

The Jefferson Parish Emergency Operations Center just sent this Flash Flood Warning:

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Northwestern Jefferson Parish in southeastern Louisiana and Central St. Charles Parish in southeastern Louisiana until 6:00 pm tonight.

The doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Due to already very saturated grounds any additional rainfall will quickly turn to run off and lead to flash flooding.”

⚠️ Please do not drive in flood waters and be sure to check weather reports. Jefferson Parish has been through a lot the past few days with these extreme weather conditions. Please stay safe, look out for one another, and be prepared and weather aware. 🙏

💙 COMMUNITY UPDATE 💙

Earlier today, Chief Conley and members of the Kenner Police Department came in contact with a local family whose home was struck by a falling tree during Tropical Storm Arthur, leaving it uninhabitable.

We are grateful to have been able to step in and assist by arranging a three-night hotel stay for the family while they begin navigating the difficult days ahead.

As our officers continue responding to storm-related calls, we know there are likely other families throughout our community facing similar hardships. We encourage anyone who is able to support those in need by reaching out to local charities, schools, churches, relief organizations, or the American Red Cross to donate items or resources that may help families recover during this difficult time.

Chief Conley shared:

“Today we met a family facing an incredibly difficult situation, and we’re thankful we were able to provide some immediate assistance. Storms like this remind us that we are all in this together. The compassion and generosity of a community can make all the difference for families who have lost so much. If you’re able to help through a local charity, school, church, or relief organization, I encourage you to do so. Together, we can help our neighbors recover.”

We will continue checking on residents impacted by Tropical Storm Arthur and working with our community partners to connect families with available resources.
