The city of Kenner is under a heat advisory today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with “feel-like” temperatures expected to reach between 108 to 112 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Heat illness can occur quickly once temperatures exceed 108 degrees and residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned area, check up on relatives and neighbors, and to never leave young children and pets in vehicles for even short periods of time.

The left eastbound and westbound lanes of West Esplanade Avenue will be closed while crews work to repair a sewer force main leak at the median of W. Esplanade and Canal No. 10. Repairs are not expected to interrupt any sewer services in the surrounding areas.

Water services will off on the 400 and 500 blocks of John Hopkins Drive and the 3300 block of Marquette Drive as Jefferson Parish crews work to repair a broken water main.

Repairs are expected to last five to six hours.

Work crews are in the 1900 block of Kansas Avenue repairing a broken water main. Portion of 21st Street to be Closed on Friday for Sewer Main Repairs

Eastbound 21st Street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, July 8, at the east side of Roosevelt Boulevard, Wastewater Department officials announced.

A Wastewater repair crew will be working on the gravity sewer main line that crosses 21st Street in the pedestrian crosswalk from the southeast corner at Roosevelt to the median.
