Promotion Announcement!

The Kennesaw State University Police Department is pleased to announce the promotion of Officer L. Loyd to the rank of Police Corporal. Corporal Loyd will continue serving within the Uniform Patrol Division, where he has consistently demonstrated professionalism, leadership, and a strong commitment to the safety and well-being of the Kennesaw State University community.

We congratulate Corporal Loyd on this well-deserved achievement and look forward to his continued success and contributions in his new role.

The promotion ceremony was officiated by Chief Ed Stephens and attended by numerous members of the KSU Police Department who gathered to recognize and celebrate this important career milestone.

Please help us recognize Officers C. Kennerly (left) and C. Shotton (right) on successfully completing the Basic Law Enforcement Training Course at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center – Alpharetta Regional Police Academy.

Both officers were members of Alpharetta Session 4, marking an important milestone in their law enforcement careers. The graduation ceremony was held today at Roswell City Hall, where they celebrated this achievement alongside fellow recruits, instructors, and supporters.

Following the ceremony, both officers were officially sworn in by Chief Stephens, surrounded by colleagues and supporters who came out to recognize this accomplishment.

We are proud of their hard work and dedication and look forward to their continued service to the KSU community.

🚨 Please join us in welcoming our newest officers to the KSU Police family — Officer J. Phillips (left) and Officer R. Barnes (right)! 🎉

Both officers were officially sworn in today during a ceremony conducted by Chief Stephens and will begin field training soon as they prepare to serve the KSU community. 🦉

We’re proud to have them on board as we continue working to keep our campus safe and welcoming for everyone. The ceremony was attended by members of our department, along with their family and friends, whose support plays a big role in their journey.

Who will take the crown this year? 👑

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) are going head-to-head—not just to showcase their step skills, but to support a meaningful cause. This event goes beyond competition; it’s an opportunity to make a lasting impact on our campus community.

The organization that raises the most funds will be named the 🏆 2026 Stomp Out Violence Step Show Champion 🏆—earning bragging rights and the pride of contributing to an important cause.

We’d also like to extend a sincere thank you to the SAFE Center for hosting this impactful event and supporting violence prevention efforts on campus.

🎖️ Promotion Announcement: Sgt. A. Brunsting 🎖️

We are proud to share that today at the KSU PD Administrative & Special Operations Building, Chief Ed Stephens officially promoted A. Brunsting to the rank of Sergeant.

Sgt. Brunsting previously served as a Corporal Detective in the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and will now transition into a Sergeant position within Uniform Patrol. This move reflects his continued growth and commitment to serving our campus community in a leadership role.

Officer Cameron recently took the oath of office administered by Chief Stephens and will begin field training later this month as he prepares to serve the KSU community. We are excited to have him join our team as we continue working to keep our campus safe and welcoming for everyone.

Please join us in congratulating Officer V. Mitchell on the successful completion of the Basic Law Enforcement Training Course at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center – Metro Regional Police Academy.

Officer Mitchell was a member of the inaugural Metro Session #1, the first class of its kind in the metro area. The graduation ceremony was held on February 27, 2026, at the Douglasville Police Department in Douglasville, Georgia.

Following the ceremony, Officer Mitchell was officially sworn in by Deputy Chief Vaughan, surrounded by friends, family, and colleagues who gathered to celebrate this significant milestone.
