ditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the public is invited to offer comments through CALEA’s new Public Comment Portal. The purpose of this comment portal is to receive public feedback regarding an agency’s compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status. CALEA encourages law enforcement agencies to adhere to strict best practices, guidelines, and procedures. Often, criminals steal with the sole intent of turning your items into fast cash. Pawn shops are often where stolen items end up. Once there, many of the same items look basically identical. It is not enough to know the model number, as there may be multiple items with the same model number. You should have a record of the serial number that is unique to your item. If there isn’t a serial number, engrave a unique number on your property so you can identify it if needed.

Want to make this easy? Use your cell phone and snap a quick picture of the model and serial number! This way we can BOTH prove the item is yours AND prosecute the criminal who took it to the pawn shop!
