United Way of Southern Chester County is happy to support AHHAH Arts Holding Hands and Hearts, Inc. and the Chester County Imagination Library (CCIL) in bringing the joy of reading to young children in our community! 📚❤️

The next CCIL Children’s Book Club & Storytime is coming up Friday, September 4, from 10:00 to 10:30 AM at the Kennett Library. This free program meets on the first three Fridays of each month and is designed for children ages 2–4.

Bring your little one for a fun storytime, followed by a craft activity that brings the story to life! It’s a wonderful way to introduce children to a lifelong love of reading.

What happens when a community comes together to help? Incredible things.

This year's Week of Caring brought together 15 nonprofit partners, 29 service projects, and more than 120 volunteers who donated 410 hours of service to strengthen our community.

That's the equivalent of more than $13,500 in volunteer manpower invested directly into local nonprofit organizations in just one week!

To every volunteer who gave their time, every nonprofit that welcomed a team, and every partner who helped make Week of Caring possible—thank you. Your generosity and commitment are making Southern Chester County stronger, one project at a time.

We are grateful to everyone who helped turn compassion into action. 💙

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday evening for Hot Days, Safe Ways, a community conversation on staying safe during the summer heat.

We’re especially grateful to our panelists for sharing their expertise, insights, and practical tips to help our community prepare for extreme heat events.

As temperatures rise this summer, remember to:
☀️ Monitor your body for signs of heat-related illness
💧 Stay hydrated throughout the day
🧴 Wear sunscreen and take steps to protect yourself from sun exposure
👵👴 Check in on older adults, who are especially vulnerable to extreme heat
👧🧒 Keep a close eye on children and youth, ensuring they stay cool, hydrated, and protected when outdoors

Knowledge is one of the best tools for staying safe. We encourage everyone to learn more about heat safety and available resources at Chesco.org/heat and to sign up for Extreme Heat Health Alerts at ReadyChesco.org.

Together, we can help keep our families, neighbors, and communities safe all summer long.
