We are seeing historic resources so easily wiped from existence more and more everyday. After so many years of preservation awareness, of connecting us to the past and the foundation of our Townships, Counties, and State with these amazing resources, why do you think this trend to disconnect us from the past is becoming more acceptable?

Our Township was a key pathway for the British troops moving north. History of our Country is around every corner. Take a pause to explore, read about, and reflect on the place you live and exist today.

The Battle of Brandywine is often remembered for its troop movements, military strategy, and its significance in the Revolutionary War. But for the families living in Chester County in September 1777, the arrival of nearly 30,000 soldiers meant something far more personal.

Homes were occupied, crops and livestock were taken, mills were damaged, and ordinary residents found their lives forever changed by the Philadelphia Campaign. While the armies eventually marched on, the hardships endured by Chester County's communities lingered long afterward.

"Plundered" explores these often-overlooked stories through records preserved by the Chester County Archives. As a companion to the "1777 Chester County Property Atlas," this video reveals how archival documents help us understand not only where the armies marched, but also how the war affected the people who called Chester County home.

The East Marlborough Historical Commission is proud to announce the installation of a historical marker for the Willowdale Trolley Stop across the parking lot from the original Willowdale Chapel. This marker shares the importance the trolley connecting West Chester to Kennett Square had for East Marlborough and the surrounding surrounding communities.

During your celebration of America’s 250, take a moment to stop and reflect on one little piece of history that helped formed our amazing township and nation.

We also want to send a hearty thank you to the East Marlborough Road Crew for the installation and future care of this marker and our Township. A job well done.

Happy Independence!!

Our rich history is all around - you just have to take a moment to look. This 1795 date carved into a corner stone on the spring house at Dalkeith Farm. Deserve to preserve. I.P. - Isaac Pyle, Isaac Pierce? Hopefully we will be able to find out.
