As our community's children head back to school, the Kennett Square Police Department wants to remind everyone of key safety tips to help ensure a safe, successful school year.

🚶🏼‍♂️‍➡️🚲Walking or Biking to School
- Always walk or bike with a buddy, especially for younger students.
- Use designated crosswalks and follow traffic signals.
- Make eye contact with drivers before crossing the street.
- Wear bright and reflective clothing to increase visibility.

🚌🛑Bus Safety
- Arrive at the bus stop early and stay away from the street.
- Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before boarding.
- Stay seated and keep your seatbelt fastened while on the bus.
- Be respectful and courteous to the bus driver and fellow students.

🚫🚔Stranger Danger
- Never accept rides or gifts from strangers.
- Don't talk to strangers, even if they seem friendly.
- Stay close to a trusted adult or group of friends.
- Report any suspicious activity to a trusted adult or authority figure.

🚫 Why Pets Are Not Permitted — Friendly Reminder
We love animals, and we know many of you consider pets part of the family. That said, pets are not permitted at the Mushroom Festival.

This policy is in place for a few important reasons:
With large crowds, food vendors, and tight walkways, the environment can become overwhelming and unsafe for animals. Even well-behaved pets can become stressed in busy, loud settings. It also helps us maintain a safe, comfortable experience for all guests, especially those with allergies, fears, or mobility needs.

We also want to make sure emergency access routes stay clear and that the event remains accessible for everyone attending.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping keep the festival safe, comfortable, and enjoyable for the entire community.

We had a sweet surprise at the Kennett Square Police Department last week! Chad and a coworker from Rosedale Walk stopped by to drop off some delicious donuts for our officers. 👮‍♂️

We were grateful for the opportunity to visit The Gathering Place at Kennett and spend time with their participants discussing personal safety and home security.

Officer Ortiz shared practical tips, answered questions, and provided information to help everyone feel more confident and prepared to stay safe at home and in the community.

Our Back-to-School Supply Drive was a huge success, and we owe it to YOU! 💙

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated school supplies to the Kennett Square Police Department. Your generosity will help local children start the school year feeling prepared, confident, and ready to learn. ✏️📓🖍️

All donated supplies were given to the Maternal and Child Health Consortium of Chester County, where they will be distributed to families in our community who can use a little extra support this school year.
