đźš’ CONGRATULATIONS ARE IN ORDER! đźš‘

Join us in celebrating a major milestone for our department and our community!
We are incredibly proud to announce that several of our firefighters have officially earned their Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification through the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office.

What does this mean for you?
In an emergency, every second counts. This rigorous certification means these firefighters are trained to provide life-saving medical care the very moment they arrive on a scene—before an ambulance arrives. From trauma response to cardiac emergencies, they’ve leveled up their skills to keep you safer.
We are so grateful for their dedication, hard work, and the extra hours they put in to better serve our community.

đźš‘ Wrapping Up EMS Week 2026: Thank You! đźš’

As National EMS Week 2026 comes to a close, we want to extend a massive thank you to our entire community for the incredible outpouring of support, kind words, and appreciation you’ve shown our EMTs and Paramedics over the last few days.

We also want to give one final salute to the men and women of the Kennett Fire Department who answer the call 24/7/365.

EMS Week may only happen once a year, but the dedication of our crew never rests. Long after the banners come down and the social media posts stop, these first responders will still be putting on the uniform, sacrificing sleep, missing family meals, and stepping into high-stress situations to ensure that you and your loved ones receive the highest level of care.

🤝 A Message to Our Community:
Thank you for trusting us on your hardest days. It is an honor and a privilege to protect and serve the City of Kennett since 1896.

To our EMTs, Paramedics, and dual-role Firefighters: Thank you for your professionalism, your compassion, and your commitment to excellence. Rest up, stay safe, and outstanding job this week.

The tones will keep going off, and we’ll keep answering.

đźš‘ EMS Week Spotlight: Lieutenant/Paramedic Matt Jones đźš’

Today for National EMS Week, we are proud to recognize a leader whose dedication keeps our entire medical operation running seamlessly: Lieutenant/Paramedic Matt Jones.

As a Paramedic, Matt brings the highest level of pre-hospital advanced life support to our community. But his impact on our department goes far beyond the emergency calls he runs. Lieutenant Jones handles the critical, behind-the-scenes work that ensures our crew is always ready for anything.

By reviewing medical calls and clinical data, Matt ensures our department maintains the highest standard of patient care and that our skills stay razor-sharp.

From Assistant Chief Roberts:
"Lieutenant Jones is an invaluable asset to this department. Outstanding bedside manner for his patients. His meticulous work with supply management and QA/QI means our crews always have what they need and our medical care remains top-tier. He keeps us operating at our absolute best."

The National Weather Service has placed our area under an Elevated Fire Danger alert for today, Wednesday, May 13.

Because of the dry conditions and winds expected to stay above 7 mph, we are asking all residents to strictly avoid any open burning. Under these conditions, a small spark from a brush pile or campfire can quickly turn into a dangerous, fast-moving wildfire that is difficult to control.

How you can help keep our community safe:
