Beginning Tuesday, Sep 22, 2026, at 12:01 a.m., Agency Administrators and fire staff from the South-Central Oregon Fire Management Partnership (SCOFMP), made the decision to decrease the fire danger level to Moderate (Blue). The Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) will also be decreased to Level I and Public Use Restrictions and Regulated Use Restrictions will be rescinded expect within the Klamath River Canyon area.

Recent cool and moderate weather conditions helped lower the Fire Danger Levels and IFPL which contributed to the decision to transition from High to Moderate Fire Danger and IFPL I. There is still potential for fires to escape and spread. Cooperation is key to reducing human caused fires within SCOFMP management area.
With fire danger decreasing to Moderate and public use restrictions lifted, private landowners are reminded that they still need to notify ODF before doing forestry-related activities on their property. Please contact your local Oregon Department of Forestry office if you have questions about the requirements.

Keno RFPD would like to thank several agencies for assistance during a rescue on Friday September 11th.
Klamath 911, Klamath County Fire District 1, Klamath County Sheriff's Office, Klamath County Search and Rescue, Mercy Flights, and Keno RFPD personnel.

Search and Rescue personnel, KCFD District 1, and Klamath County Sheriffs responded to assist KRFPD in a rescue and providing care for a patient involved in a motor vehicle crash.

This cooperation and coordination combined with extensive training resulted in a successful rescue mission.

Good morning,

In Keno Rural Fire Protection District we have a limited amount of fire hydrants. We frequently rely on our water tender, 3661 to bring over 3000 gallons of water to the fire scene. When the tender arrives, it can either provide water directly to apparatus or it can set up a large portable "draft tank", quickly dump the water and begin a water shuttle from hydrants, rivers, lakes etc... Recently we noted that our 3500 gallon Porta- Tank needed a replacement liner.
Here are some photos of the crew securing the tank, and winching it back into the rack on top of 3661.

Keno Rural Fire Protection District Seeking Candidate for Board Vacancy

Keno Rural Fire Protection District is accepting applications to fill one open position on its board of directors.

The appointee will serve the remainder of the term for Position 5, which expires June 30, 2027.

The Keno Rural Fire Protection District Board of Directors is comprised of five board members. Each member is elected by the registered voters of the district to serve a four (4) year term. If a member resigns or a position becomes available mid-term, the remaining board members will appoint a director to the vacant position.

To be a board member, one must own property or reside within the district boundary.

Regular board meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm at Station 1 at 14800 Puckett Rd, Klamath Falls OR 97601.

Interested candidates can request an information packet, which includes information about the district, position, and application/selection process, from the district office by contacting Chief David Blair at 541-883-3062 or by email at [email protected]. You may also visit our office at Station 1 during regular business hours from 8:00-5:00 M-F.

The deadline to submit applications for this vacancy is by 5:00 pm on September 2, 2026.
