Kenosha Community Foundation We lead, serve and collaborate with donors to create enduring philanthropy. The Foundation also provides scholsrships to deserving local students.

The Kenosha Community Foundation supports programs that improve the general welfare and enhance the quality of life for residents of the greater Kenosha community. The Foundation strives to address the area’s evolving needs and social changes by awarding grant to area non-profit organizations that address problems and find opportunities in the areas of arts and culture, education and social services.

Happy National Lighthouse Day! Just like our iconic shorelines, strong communities need steady beacons of hope, support, and leadership.

In 2023, we participated in the Kenosha History Center’s “Light the Lighthouse” tradition to honor one of our own beacons: Steve Seymour, CPA, upon his retirement as our Board Treasurer. Steve has been an extraordinary community leader and visionary whose dedication helped facilitate our mission for years.

Meet Marsha Caporaso—a Kenosha resident of 31 years, former owner and president of ABATRON, INC., attorney, SCORE mentor, and dedicated Kenosha Community Foundation Grant Committee reviewer of 12 years!

Here is what philanthropy and community service mean to Marsha in her own words:

✨ What does philanthropy mean to you?
"Philanthropy is a means of supporting those who endeavor to make life better for humans, other living beings, and the environment. It can be financial support or a commitment of time (volunteering). Thousands of organizations that work to make life better would not exist without the generosity of philanthropists. Philanthropy pays big dividends in the satisfaction of knowing one has contributed to the well-being of others."

✨ Why is volunteering important to you?
"Volunteering is important to me to support the community, keep in touch with friends and make new friends, and to stay knowledgeable about community issues."

✨ The impact of the Kenosha Community Foundation:
"KCF is an essential part of the community. It awards dozens of grants each year to organizations that are performing important services such as working with the disabled, teaching reading, and providing for those in need. It also supports arts organizations and fledgling nonprofits as a receiver. Nealy 100 scholarships are awarded each year under its supervision. Without KCF, Kenosha would be a poorer community economically and spiritually."

What does investing in the future of nonprofits actually look like? Sometimes, it looks like better software. 💻

KCF is run by a lean team and countless volunteers. To multiply our KCF impact, we have to maximize and extend resources.

Thanks to the generous challenge grant by The TAWANI Foundation, KCF's 'Next 100 Years Fund' was launched to help us build our internal systems like Foundant for scholarship applications and Salesforce for donor management.

This is how we build a sustainable foundation for the next century of giving in Kenosha!
