County Executive Samantha Kerkman had the pleasure of kicking off the Youth-Led Stride for Minds 3K Walk/Run, held Saturday at Petrifying Springs Park — an event organized by youth to bring awareness to mental health and wellness as Mental Health Awareness Month came to a close.

🧪📺♻️ Kenosha County's annual household hazardous waste collection event is underway this morning, continuing until 1 p.m. outside the County Center at highways 45 and 50 in Bristol.

🆓 Don't miss this FREE opportunity for residents to safely dispose of household chemicals, electronics, and appliances!

📍 Visitors are directed to enter from the east on Highway 50.

🧷 As part of the event, 1HOPE.Community is collecting unopened packages of diapers and wipes as well as monetary donations to assist foster families in Kenosha County. Donations are much appreciated!

🚧 UPDATE: Highway H will reopen for the weekend — Saturday and Sunday, May 30 and 31 — but will close for an additional day on Monday, June 1. Further details about this closure are in the original post ⬇️

🚧 ADVISORY: Kenosha County Highway H (88th Avenue) is scheduled to be closed to through traffic just north of Highway E (12th Street) from 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, until the end of the day Friday, May 29.

This is to accommodate work associated with a Village of Somers water main installation project on Highway H.

🆕 JOINT SERVICES BOARD ASSIGNMENTS: The Kenosha Joint Services Board on Tuesday elected County Board Supervisor Daniel Gaschke as its Chairman while welcoming Supervisor John Poole as the newest appointee to the board.

County Executive Samantha Kerkman, also a member of the board, said she looks forward to working with both of them, as well as the rest of the board, on overseeing the agency that provides 911 dispatch and other support services for law enforcement and emergency service agencies across Kenosha County.

🤝 MEETING THE PEOPLE WHO POWER KENOSHA COUNTY: County Executive Samantha Kerkman's recent State of the County address featured brief video profiles of several of our outstanding staff members — the people who make Kenosha County government happen, every day.

Today, in the first installment of a weekly series, meet Julie Kunath, the Elected Officials Deputy who's the smiling face who greets visitors at the Elected Officials' Satellite Office at the Kenosha County Center in Bristol.

❓ DID YOU KNOW: The Satellite Office is there to serve west-end residents with many of the same services available at the county Administration Building and the Courthouse in downtown Kenosha. From marriage license applications to birth and death certificates, property tax payments, and more, Julie's got you covered, so you don't need to drive downtown to access county services!

The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed during the noon hour) Monday-Friday. It's located just inside the front door of the County Center, at the corner of highways 45 and 50.
