“Kenosha County residents are rightfully frustrated when individuals enter this country illegally and then commit crimes in our communities. In this case, the defendant told law enforcement he had only recently arrived in the United States in 2023 and almost immediately became involved in criminal activity. Evidence further showed criminal conduct occurring not only in Wisconsin, but in other states as well. According to reports, he had been residing in Chicago, a sanctuary city that has devoted significant taxpayer-funded resources toward accommodating illegal aliens, while many hardworking American citizens continue to struggle.
This case is one of many that is a slap in the face to the millions of immigrants who followed the law, respected the legal immigration process, worked hard, and pursued the American Dream the right way. There is a major difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration into this country followed by more criminal behavior.
Under the Democratic leadership of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, millions of illegal aliens entered this country with insufficient screening and enforcement. Communities across America, including here in Kenosha County and other communities throughout Wisconsin, have seen the consequences firsthand. The people of Kenosha County want public safety to come first.
My office will continue working with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, including immigration authorities, to ensure individuals who commit crimes in Kenosha County are prosecuted aggressively and, where appropriate, transferred to federal immigration custody upon completion of their sentence. In Kenosha County, the days of giving illegal aliens plea deals that allow them to remain in this country after committing crimes ended on the first day of my administration.”
