🚧 A major investment in Kenosha County is making headlines across the region!

Eli Lilly and Company’s massive Pleasant Prairie expansion tops the Milwaukee Business Journal’s list of the “Largest Milwaukee-area Construction Projects Underway,” putting Kenosha County at the forefront of major development taking place across the seven-county region.

This project represents much more than construction activity. It’s a transformational investment that strengthens Kenosha County’s growing life sciences sector, creates high-quality jobs, expands our advanced manufacturing base, and raises our profile as a destination for major corporate investment.

Kenosha County continues to build momentum - and one of the region’s biggest projects is happening right here.

🧬 How cool is this for Kenosha County?

Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News has named Wisconsin - specifically the Madison and Kenosha areas - one of the nation’s “Next 10 U.S. Biopharma Clusters,” ranking Wisconsin #5 among emerging states for life sciences activity.

And Kenosha County is helping drive that recognition. GEN specifically highlights Eli Lilly and Company's $4 billion investment in the Village of Pleasant Prairie, which is expected to create 750 jobs, alongside major biopharma investments taking place in Madison. The publication also points to Wisconsin’s manufacturing heritage as a competitive advantage as the state builds its presence in this rapidly growing industry.

For the County of Kenosha, Wisconsin, this is significant. Being recognized as part of an emerging national biopharma cluster strengthens our ability to attract investment, recruit highly skilled talent, build a specialized supply chain and compete for the next generation of life sciences projects.

Kenosha County has long been known for manufacturing - and it's exciting to see advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing becoming part of that story.

For the sixth consecutive year, Kenosha County Government has received a AAA bond rating from S&P Global Ratings.

This top-level rating is a result of the county’s strong fiscal condition and outlook, and it ultimately benefits taxpayers, Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman said.

“As S&P noted in its report, our AAA rating is supported by our healthy reserve funds, prudent financial management practices, and the continued strong economic growth trends in our region,” Kerkman said. “We continue to be one of just seven Wisconsin counties to hold AAA status from a major rating agency, and it wouldn’t be possible without the strong work of our Finance team and the County Board.”

Along with the AAA rating, S&P issued a stable outlook, which, the report states, “reflects our view that Kenosha County’s strong operational trends will continue, aided by robust management practices and ongoing economic growth.”
