Carmel NY Democrats We are a diverse Democratic committee in Carmel/Mahopac NY. We need you to shake up our town's one-party rule and make our voices heard! Then join us.

We are the Town of Carmel Democratic Committee, a group of very dedicated activists in Mahopac and Carmel NY facing big odds in our small town. But we hold true to Margaret Mead's wise words, to "never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." Are you sick of one party rule in our town that stifles our voices? Are y

ou sick of the same people getting elected again and again who do very little to improve our community? Are you simply afraid to tell your friends and neighbors that you are a Democrat, perhaps out of fear of retribution? Together we can slowly but surely change the face of politics in this wonderful small town we call home.

This nation is about people who work!

Today we celebrate the people who keep Putnam County moving.

It's the people who rise before sunrise to keep the trains running. Who raise the steel and build things that last. Who stand watch and keep our neighbors safe. Who care for us when we're sick. Who teach our kids. Who keep the lights on, the roads clear, and the county running.

It's those folks who keep our communities moving.

Labor built the freedoms we enjoy. The weekend. The eight-hour day. The safety of knowing that hard work leads somewhere — a home, a retirement, a future for your kids.

That security didn't happen on its own. People organized for it. Fought for it. Showed up for each other to win it.

So today, to everyone working hard to build a life, support a family, and make this county a little better: thank you.

Happy Labor Day, Putnam County.

This is about your money. And it’s time we start paying attention.

The Putnam County Legislature unanimously voted to ask the New York State Comptroller to audit the County’s finances.

That matters.

8 of the 9 legislators are Republicans. This isn’t partisan. It’s a growing concern about how County government is managing nearly $200 million in reserves while taxpayers continue to see their bills rise.

And saying “I didn’t raise the tax rate” doesn’t tell the whole story. When assessments increase, your tax bill increases even when the rate stays the same.

Taxpayers deserve to know where their money is, why so much is being held, and whether we are doing everything possible to put money back in the hands of the people who earned it.

I believe government should be accountable to taxpayers, not comfortable sitting on their money.

The Legislature has asked for answers.

I’m ready to make sure taxpayers get them.
