KVFD and other area Departments will be doing a tanker shuttle drill tomorrow from 6:30pm to approximately 8:30pm Thursday evening. This will take place between Hatch Pond to Spooner Hill. When large fires require significant amounts of water, a tanker shuttle is needed to continuously move water from the water source to the fire. Practicing this drill with other towns makes us more effective and safer.

We are truly honored to have attended the CSFA Hall of Fame dinner Thursday evening, celebrating the dedication, bravery, and commitment of its newest inductees. We honor their legacies and the invaluable contributions they’ve made to the profession and our communities. We are especially proud to have attended in support of our friend Bernie Meehan. Even with his recent retirement from Danbury Fire Department he continues to support KVFD and many other departments in the area. Congratulations and thank you Bernie! We look forward to sharing many more memories.

Kent Volunteer Fire Department regrets to announce the passing of beloved Emergency Member, Robbie Kennedy – radio number 964. Monday evening many of us gathered at the firehouse to honor Robbie and share our cherished memories of him. Robbie joined KVFD in the spring of 1998 when the membership voted him in and committed to, what Apple Kennedy perfectly described as, “a beautiful soul.” His smile, his wave and his spirit will be missed, not just by his KVFD family but by so many in our community.

As ready as ready can be.
