With the severe weather season on the way, we thought now is a good time to go over the difference between tornado and severe thunderstorm watches and warnings.

A WATCH means that the potential exists for the development of severe thunderstorms or tornadoes, depending upon the specific type of watch issued. In the case of a tornado watch, this DOES NOT mean that a tornado has been seen or even indicated on radar it just means that conditions are favorable for the formation of tornadoes in thunderstorms. Similarly, a severe thunderstorm watch means that conditions are just conducive for the development of severe weather, and DOES NOT indicate that severe weather has been reported. While no immediate action on the part of the general public is required for the issuance of a watch, citizens should keep up to date on the current weather situation and be prepared to seek shelter if necessary.

Please SHARE!

๐Ÿพ On a 78-degree day, the temperature inside a parked car can soar to between 100 and 120 degrees in just minutes, and on a 90-degree day, the interior temperature can reach as high as 160 degrees in less than 10 minutes.
Animals can sustain brain damage or even die from heatstroke in just 15 minutes. Beating the heat is extra tough for dogs because they can only cool themselves by panting and by sweating through their paw pads.

๐Ÿพ On an 87-degree day, asphalt temperatures can reach 140 degrees, hot enough to cause burns, permanent damage and scarring after just one minute of contact. Rapid burns and blistering can occur at 150 degrees. Hot sidewalks, pavement and parking lots can not only burn paws, they also reflect heat onto dogsโ€™ bodies , increasing an animals risk of deadly heatstroke.

๐Ÿพ If you do see a dog in a car please call the local police department. Stay by the car. Give the dispatcher the location & the license plate. They will also need the make , model & color of the vehicle. We recommend you call the police.

We DO NOT recommend you break out the windows of someone else's vehicle. You can be charged with a crime. Stay with the vehicle & call the police ASAP.

"We are forever indebted to those who have given their lives that we might be free" Ronald Reagan๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Memorial Day is often noted as the unofficial beginning of summer. While we hope you enjoy the family gatherings and other events the long weekend affords, we encourage you to take at least a moment to reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ’™
The first official โ€œDecoration Dayโ€ was declared in 1868, when volunteers decorated the graves of the over 20,000 Union and Confederate soldiers in Arlington National Cemetery. During WWII, it was renamed Memorial Day and expanded to honor the sacrifice of all Americans who died in military service. It was declared a national holiday in 1971.

Today, we solemnly honor all of those Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice while defending the freedoms we all enjoy. THANK YOU to all the men & women who have served or who are currently serving. Today we honor & remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™
