Today I was made aware of a recent Facebook post regarding an individual at one of our parks acting suspiciously. The department has looked into the incident and has gathered the necessary information. We will be increasing our presence at the parks and games in an effort to further deter illegal activities . We encourage citizens to call our dispatch center to report suspicious activity. We would much rather look into unfounded events rather than receive a call after the fact. The non emergency number is 219-474-5661. In an emergency, please dial 911. As the old saying goes,”see something, say something“.

Hans Grüber is a good boy, but he’s not ours. If he’s yours, let us know! Also, he doesn’t respond well to “Hans” so we’d like to know his real name! He’s temporarily kenneled with us until animal control takes him. Please call our dispatch center at 219-474-5661 to arrange pickup.

Update: Hans has been transferred to Newton County Animal Control.
