We had a very special day at Kenton Fire yesterday, we were happy to celebrate our new E72 with Jon Cross and Governor Mike DeWine! We cannot thank all of the people involved in the process of making this truck be a possibility enough. Without Jon Cross continued efforts this truck would not be sitting here today.

Another special thank you to all the faces that showed up yesterday to celebrate with us!

This new truck is going to be a game changer for our community. We’re seeing 31 years of development and improvements in this fire apparatus. Keep following along the next few days for another walk around post explaining all of the benefits and improvements on our new E72.

Yesterday A shift did what will most likely be the last weekly check of Engine 72. For many members of the KFD Engine 72 holds a special place in their hearts. Fighting fire in Hardin County since being delivered, Engine 72, a 1995 Ford built by E-ONE, was a frontline fire apparatus until 2015 when Engine 71 was purchased. Although Engine 72 was moved at that time to being the second due truck and main response for mutual aid, its job was far from over. Even in recent years when other units have been out of service, Engine 72 has been the primary pumper for residential fires and a crucial support pumper. Engine 72 remained a hard working and reliable engine throughout its 31 years of protecting the citizens of Kenton and Hardin county. All good things must come to an end unfortunately, and as our new truck comes wearing the same unit number, it has large shoes to fill and a legacy to continue. We look forward to this bittersweet new chapter in the history of KFD!

The Kenton Fire Department would like to congratulate its newest paramedic Wil Boughan! Wil has been in paramedic school since last August while also being a full time father and volunteering at his local fire department. Wil's new certification will go towards Kenton Fire Department's constant goal of providing the best care for it's citizens. Congratulations Wil!
