Keep Hardin County Beautiful has awarded the Beautification Award to Carrie Jo and Mike Jordan for the amazing landscaping surrounding their rural home in Hardin County. After driving through a long tree lined lane their rustic wood home appears surrounded by a huge variety of landscaping which fits perfectly into the setting. There are multiple potted plants placed around the home as well as a variety of planted shrubs and trees including hosta, hydrangea, groundcovers, evergreens and many perennial flowers. In one area there is what Carrie calls her Mexican garden decorated with potted plants and lawn ornaments. In addition to all the landscaping the home and surrounding areas are also decorated with many pieces of rustic furniture and antique items which add to the aesthetics of the home. Across from their house is a pond highlighted with a getaway area which includes a restored grain bin used as a shelter overlooking the pond as well as a renovated retro camper. The Jordan’s home and surroundings make one feel as if on a permanent retreat.
