Citizens of Kentwood:
I would like to take this opportunity to extend my very best wishes to you and your families, as we prepare, and prepare to endure, what is believed to be the most significant weather event we’ve experienced since Hurricane Katrina, almost 16 years ago to the day! I am also asking you to take this time to get your homes and affairs in order while their is still time! Make sure you have adequate water and non perishable food items. Enough to sustain for a week to 10 days!

As far as emergency response, the men and women of the Kentwood Police Department stand ready to assist wherever and whenever we can! However, there will come a time that I will have to cease all patrol and response activities! During that time we will not be able to assist or respond to you!! With that being said, I will ask each of you to shelter in place until this event passes! You should by now already be at or headed to your “safe shelter” to ride the storm out! We will resume normal activities once it is deemed safe to do so, but not until then!!

When this event passes, I want to ask each of you to stay in place and not go venturing out sightseeing Not only is this dangerous, but could interfere and hinder emergency work efforts!

My prayers and thoughts are with each of you and your families as we face this event together, and head on! We will resurface better than before!! God speed and God bless!!!
