..Thunderstorms will impact portions of Warren, southern Mercer,
Henderson, southwestern Henry, Henry, Des Moines, Van Buren,
northwestern Lee, southeastern Louisa and southern Jefferson Counties
through 430 PM CDT...

At 252 PM CDT, trained weather spotters reported a tornado west of
Morning Sun. These storms were nearly stationary.

HAZARD...Funnel clouds and possibly weak, brief tornadoes and minor
flooding.

SOURCE...Trained weather spotters.

IMPACT...Isolated damage to roofs, siding and trees is possible.

Locations impacted include...
Burlington, Fairfield, Monmouth, Mount Pleasant, Oquawka, Keosauqua,
West Burlington, Burgess, New London, Mediapolis, Danville,
Stronghurst, Morning Sun, Woodhull, Kirkwood, Alpha, Keithsburg,
Birmingham, Salem, and Little York.

This includes Interstate 74 in Illinois between mile markers 31 and
33.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Conditions are favorable for the development of funnel clouds, and
possibly brief, weak tornadoes. The National Weather Service will
conntinue to closely monitor the situation, and may issue a Tornado
Warning if the threat increases. If you see a funnel cloud please
seek shelter indoors and then contact your local law enforcement
agency for relay to the National Weather Service.

NWS Update: 8-19-26

We wanted to provide another "tap on the shoulder" as portions of the southern forecast area have been placed in low risk for severe storms this afternoon and evening.

KEY MESSAGES:
• There is a 40-60% chance for showers and thunderstorms today into tonight, mainly south of I-80 ahead of a passing cold front. Peak storm coverage is expected late PM/evening.
• A low risk for severe weather exists, mainly 3-10 pm and near/south of Hwy 34 . Damaging wind, hail and torrential downpours with a localized flash flood threat are the primary storm hazards.

We'll see a chance for showers and storms area-wide today, with those chances shifting mainly south of I-80 by this afternoon through evening ahead of a cold front. Peak storm coverage will be from 3-10 pm and especially along/south of Hwy 34 with isolated severe storms possible. Damaging winds, hail and localized flash flooding are the main storm hazards.

NWS Weather Update: 8-18-26

KEY MESSAGES:

There is a 30-50% chance for showers and thunderstorms today and tonight ahead of a passing cold front.
A low risk for severe weather exists, mainly in the late afternoon and evening (4-10p). Damaging wind is the main threat along with brief heavy downpours. A Level 1 of 5 risk for severe weather covers the entire forecast area. There is some uncertainty on storm coverage and also storm strength this afternoon and evening, as the morning clouds and any precipitation could have an impact on limiting storm energy later today.

[10:35 A.M. Thursday, August 13] A thunderstorm complex continues to move eastward into Illinois. While it has slowly weakened, it still has heavy rain capable of at least minor flooding in typical locations, frequent lightning, and some gusty winds. Allow extra travel time and use caution with this heavy rainfall.. When thunder roars, head indoors!

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Southern Van Buren County in southeastern Iowa...
Scotland County in northeastern Missouri...
Clark County in northeastern Missouri...

* Until 915 AM CDT.

* At 812 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Mount Sterling to near Bible Grove, moving east at
40 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Kahoka, Memphis, Warsaw, Wayland, Milton, Wyaconda, Cantril, Alexandria, Rutledge, Luray, South Gorin, Granger, St.
Francisville, Crawford, Wi******er, Farmington, Revere, Arbela, Mount Sterling, and Gregory Landing.
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

8-10-26. ..Scattered showers and storms possible this evening and late tonight, some of which could become severe. The SPC has a Marginal to Slight Risk (Level 1 to 2 out of 5) for severe storms. All hazards are possible, but damaging winds and heavy rain are the primary threats.
