Hey folks, if your plan is to mail your tax payment, don’t trust the guy on the left to make sure your envelope is date stamped in March. You’ve got to take your envelope inside to the guy on the right (or someone dressed like him) and ask for him or her to date stamp it, no later than March 31st! Or you can come see us at the treasurers office and tell us your best bad joke. Of course you can always pay online at iowatreasurers.org or drop your payment in the dropbox at the Dodge St. door.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is now available in Van Buren County!! The beloved early literacy program — which mails a free, age-appropriate book each month to children from birth to age five.
This regional expansion is made possible through a partnership supported by funding from Early Childhood Iowa, along with leadership from our local United Way.
Families can register their children by visiting https://imaginationlibrary.com/check-availability/ and entering their zip code, or by contacting United Way of Southeast Iowa at 319-752-7831 for assistance. The first round of books is expected to begin arriving in January 2026.

There have been a number of scam texts circulating that we'd like to warn you about. One may say you've got an unpaid toll fee, and the most recent one says it's from the DMV and you've got unpaid tickets, and you're about to have your license suspended. Don't believe it, don't fall for it. They're trying to scam you out of your hard-earned money.
