Well? If you are a private well owner, test your well water yearly for contaminants like arsenic and nitrate, which are odorless, tasteless, and not removed by boiling water.

Unlike public water supplies that are routinely tested by the water department, private well owners are responsible for testing their well water themselves. At-home water quality tests may not always be accurate, so collecting a sample to be analyzed by a lab is the best way to determine the safety of your water. Water quality is one piece of the cancer prevention puzzle.

County personnel can help determine possible sources of contaminants by collecting and analyzing your water at no or low cost, trace how they entered the system, and recommend remedial procedures.
