🚩 RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT 🚩
Due to critical fire weather conditions, please postpone all outdoor burning until conditions improve. High winds and low humidity can cause fires to spread rapidly.

Help keep our community safe.

The National Weather Service has issued a **🚩RED FLAG WARNING🚩** for North Carolina counties.
👉Review weather alerts for North Carolina: https://bit.ly/40DsGTW

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures will create dangerous fire behavior.

Fire danger is elevated across the state. While open burning is permitted during a red flag, it is NOT advised. Please postpone all outdoor burning.

Careless debris burning is the leading cause of wildfires in North Carolina, and you are our best defense against wildfire.

Forsyth County history hit. Here's Union Cross Fire and Rescue's new 1957 Dodge/Beck pumper, 700/500, as pictured in the Winston-Salem Journal on May 30, 1958.

The $9,000 truck was the 35th piece of apparatus to be added to the county rural fire system. It was the first new apparatus for Union Cross, that had previously used "borrowed trucks."

Shown were Fire Chief W. O. Weavil (left) and county commissioner Wally Dunham (right). The truck's body was built in Davidson County by Jake Beck. Here's some history about him, https://legeros.com/blog/beck-fire-trucks.
