from Texas and Oklahoma to California. SWLR is funded by private donations and adoption fees. When llamas or alpacas come into the care of Southwest Llama Rescue, Inc. (SWLR), they are health-checked, vaccinated, wormed, sheared and toenails trimmed. The llamas or alpacas then go to one of our SWLR foster farms, where they are prepared for adoption into pre-screened homes. All SWLR llamas and alpa
cas are placed with non-breeding contracts. If at any time the adopters can no longer care for an SWLR animal, they must return the animal to SWLR. Prior to placement, adopters must meet farm requirements and submit adoption forms. A facility check will be done by a SWLR member volunteer. There is an adoption fee for any SWLR animal. Please check the website for current fees. Llamas or alpacas are to be picked up at foster facilities. Though we at SWLR hope you will consider fostering or adopting one of our rescues, we also have llamas and alpacas that, for whatever reasons, will not be adopted, but will instead be cared for at our rescue foster farms. We need people willing to "sponsor" these llamas or alpacas by donating financially for their day-to-day care.
