Mall power restored 2:40 pm.Power restored to all areas except mall at 2:25 pm. Cause was a bird strike or branch that made connection between two main feeder lines between mile 8 and 9 S Tongass. Power outage North of town, South of Town and areas along Tongass Ave. Cause currently unclear. Report if you saw or heard anything.

Planned Power Outage Downtown area including Stedman, Creek St, Thomas St, Thomas Basin Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 10:00 pm to approximately 6:00 am Monday May 4th. Outage also in area of Deermount and Park/Lotus beginning at 10:00 pm and running for approximately 5 minutes.

4/7 11 am - update 4:30pm: all service except Roosevelt area is restored. Crews are heading to Roosevelt to investigate. Update 2 pm - power expected to be restored between 2:30 and 3 pm. Power Outage South of town due to issue with tree in line in Saxman. Linemen are enroute - remember that you can check if there is an outage by looking at our outage map which is pinned to the top of our page. It’s also on the city website

Daytime outage is necessary to allow crew and excavator to work under the boardwalk at low tide.

Tuesday Night/Wednesday morning beginning on March 25, 2026
Beginning at 12:01 am to approximately 5:30 am; Downtown area including Stedman Street, Creek Street and Thomas Basin

Deermount outage will start at 12:01 am and run for approximately 5 minutes
This is to complete repairs/replacement of equipment in underground vaults prior to the start of the tourist season.
