Get an up-close look at one of Ketchum’s most iconic pieces of history.

As Wagon Days gets underway, join wagon maker Doug Hansen for an interactive look at the engineering, craftsmanship and ingenuity behind Ketchum’s historic Lewis Ore Wagons.

Thursday, Sept. 3
5:30–6:30 p.m.
Fourth Street outside the Wood River Museum of History + Culture
Free; registration encouraged but not required

Hansen, one of the nation’s premier restorers and builders of historically accurate wagons, will walk through how these massive freighting vehicles were built and operated to serve the mining communities of central Idaho. The complete Big Hitch will be on display, offering a rare opportunity to see the wagons up close with the expert entrusted with their restoration.

Ketchum has selected Shane Womack to serve as chief of the new Ketchum Police Department.

Womack brings more than 30 years of law enforcement, public safety and executive leadership experience, including more than two decades with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Selected following a nationwide, community-driven search, Womack will be sworn in Aug. 27 and officially begin serving as chief Sept. 23.

The road to the Olympic and Paralympic Games begins in communities like ours. On Friday, July 17, help us welcome home the athletes and coaches who proudly represented Team USA at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic & Paralympic Games.

The regularly scheduled City Council meeting taking place at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, has been rescheduled to begin at 3 p.m. on July 9 to resolve scheduling conflicts with participants. Deliberation on all previously published consent, new business, and executive session agenda items will now begin at 3 p.m. All public hearing agenda items will follow at the 5:30 p.m. regular meeting start time.
