Help Us Build Our Slideshow!

We are putting together a "walk down memory lane" slideshow for the Van Buren Middle School Open House on June 10.

If you would like to share your favorite pictures of VBMS, please use this link to access a Google Form where you can send us up to five of your fave photos.

Please submit your photos by the deadline of June 5, 2026, to have them considered for inclusion in the slideshow.

Quick Tip: Horizontal or wide photos work best for slideshows. Vertical photos can be submitted and we can use them, however, given the choice, your horizontal format photos will look much better on the wide screen! Thanks!

In this week's "Friday Firebird Focus," we join together in proud celebration of the Fairmont High School Class of 2026! As our graduates set off on their next great adventures—pursuing higher education, launching exciting careers, and entering the military—we wish them nothing but the absolute best.

Before we say goodbye to a building filled with decades of memories, we’re opening the doors one final time! Whether your journey here began in the days of the Knight or the era of the Firebird, you are a valued part of Van Buren’s history.

We invite former students who once filled these halls, teachers who shaped futures within these walls, and neighbors who have watched it stand the test of time to join us. Come reconnect with old friends, capture final photos, and revisit familiar spaces as we celebrate our shared history before turning the page to a new chapter.

Evening Schedule:
5: 00 PM: Opening Presentation (Auditorium)

5:30-7:00 PM: Open House, Self-Guided Building Tours, and
Community Connection

Entryway Bricks:
Our KCS Buildings and Grounds Crew is going to extract the bricks from the front entryway at Van Buren Middle School. The bricks will be available for a family member to pick up during the Open House on June 10.

PLEASE NOTE: Our crew will handle the extraction with the utmost care to keep the bricks intact as much as possible. However, due to the natural fragility of the material, some minor chipping or crumbling may occur.

Mother Nature was kind to us last week, as we had great weather for all three of our Elementary Field Days!

We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to our elementary PE teachers -- Beth Callinan (Beavertown & JFK), Caleb Berlon (Greenmont), Sarah Leighner (Indian Riffle), Robert Grote (Oakview), Matt Andersen (Orchard Park), Kara Hicks (Prass), and Heather McDevitt (Southdale) for all their work to coordinate this annual tradition for our students!

We couldn't do this monumental event each year without the help of our amazing partners, Dor-Wood Optimist Club.

And let's just give a great big "Clap Once; Clap Twice; Go Firebirds" THANK YOU to our Field Day PA Announcer Extraordinaire, Carol Lamb!!

Commencement for the Kettering Fairmont High School Class of 2026 will be held on Thursday, May 21, at 7 p.m., at the University of Dayton Arena.

Can't make it to the ceremony in person? You don't have to miss a moment of the celebration!

Fairmont High School’s 2026 Commencement will be livestreamed from UD Arena, with the graduation ceremony set to begin at 7 p.m., and the livestream coverage scheduled to start approximately 30 minutes before the ceremony.
