Christmas in Kewanee starts today at Wethersfield with the Holly Jolly Festival from 2-4pm. Tonight the Windmont Park Lighting Parade will be kicking off down McClure St to Beach St at 5pm with fireworks lighting the sky! Enter through Santa’s workshop where bubbles smell surprisingly like peppermint!Santa and Mrs Claus will be inside the shelter waiting to greet the kids and a special treat for every child. Northeast Park is a beautiful sight to behold where you can stay toasty warm and drive through in your car. Make sure to drive down Chestnut St where Angie Cernovich has the Luminaries all lit !! Enjoy the beauty of Christmas where all these volunteers have spent countless hours preparing just for you!

Robbie Neirynck paid a visit to the Windmont Park shelter house to give instructions on where to light up our new pieces that he created. After Grandpa Bob passed, Robbie needed an artist to keep going with new designs for the beautiful display you see each year. Enter…Tim Bryner, Artist, Chainsaw Carver, School Resource Officer for KPD. Tim, can draw up just about anything in 8 minutes or less. Together these two have given us “Switch”, “ Olaf” and a new Christmas hat for the 17ft TRex dinosaur, named “Robbie”. Robbie learned to bend and weld the rebar when he was in 3rd grade from his Grandpa. Grandma Alice was not happy when Robbie discovered what flash burn was. Thank You Robbie Neirynck and Tim Bryner!!!

Boy do the volunteers appreciate it when the treats come in!! Special thanks go out to Ronelle Spiegel for her delicious homemade pies. She brought 3 in today and 3 last week. Also big thanks to our newest volunteer Jeanette Gibson for making yummy chili last week and homemade chicken noodle soup this week and cheddar biscuits like Red Lobster. These ladies are spoiling us and keeping us warm too. Thanks so much Ronelle and Jeanette!!
