Thursday, May 28, is the last day we’ll be open this month. So if you haven’t yet come in during May, we are open from 3 to 6pm.
Next week starts a new month, so all clients are eligible to visit us on any Tuesday or Thursday in June.

We are fortunate to receive weekly donations from a couple of local grocery stores and we gladly pass the items on to our clients. We also inspect every item donated by the public and area businesses and these are the guidelines we follow, knowing food is still nutritious and tasty after the date printed on it has passed.

We can’t say thank you enough to our volunteers and our community for their outstanding support of last Saturday’s Stamp Out Hunger food drive. A few more donations have come in and it looks like our final total is 4,078 pounds of food collected! WOW!
And we had 19 volunteers lending a hand Saturday, logging in 105 hours of hard work. Thank you again, we can’t do this without you.

Our thanks to the Kewanee route mail carriers and their families who put in a lot of extra work yesterday picking up donations and bringing them to the food pantry! We appreciated your hard work and great attitudes 🙂
Another huge thanks to our food pantry volunteers for all their work. It was a long day but well worth it. We weighed in over 3,600 pounds of donations then unfortunately had to dispose of a lot of outdated and damaged items. But we are grateful for our community’s response, knowing this food drive will assist so many.

We inspect every single item that comes in and unfortunately we have to throw out a lot of really outdated food ☹️ The oldest item we found today was 2006 and then this can came along 😳 It’s not dated and many of us had never seen a can with an opening key. Needless to say, it will not be handed out but we thought it was an interesting find.
Thanks for all the donations that we are able to use! Those letter carriers are still out there but we have weighed in just over 2,200 pounds so far.

While many of the mail carriers are still out on their routes, our great group of volunteers have stayed busy checking dates and organizing donations into categories and then restocking shelves. About 670 pounds have been brought in so far but we hope for a busier afternoon as routes are completed. Kewanee, we thank you for your help and support!
