So much to cover in such little time. I admit this day snuck up on me. Today is July 3rd and the day of Kewaunee's Independence Celebration. In this post is the flyer for all of the events taking place at Lakehaven Hall, the parade route, and a reminder of the city ordinance prohibiting certain fireworks. Festivities start at noon. The parade starts at 6:30 pm. It looks like the weather is going to cooperate, and this is shaping up to be a great day in the City of Kewaunee. Everyone please be smart, be safe, and enjoy the celebration!!!

A message from Assistant Chief Kleiman:
All,
I am pleased to announce that the Kewaunee Farm Tech Grant Committee has agreed to fund a couple of projects that we have been working on.
Kewaunee K-9 Program - $2,500 was granted to our K-9 program to replenish funds that were used to purchase our current K-9 squad.
Kewaunee Fire Department Special Utility Trailer - $5,000 was granted to be used towards the purchase of a Special Use Utility Trailer for the Kewaunee Fire Department. The trailer would house many items that would be used in certain situations. Some of the items that the trailer would house is: Heavy Duty Cribbing, Foam, Dike Material, Oil Dry, Wheelbarrow, Grain Bin Rescue Equipment and items to board up a fire scene; to name a few.
I want to thank the Kewaunee Farm Tech Grant Committee for assisting the City of Kewaunee in these Projects.
Sincerely,
James J. Kleiman Jr.

With all the recent snow fall and more on it’s way please help us, your neighbors, and yourself out by keeping your fire hydrants clear of snow
If you don’t need to venture out I suggest that you don’t, especially in the country where visibility is absolutely horrible
From everyone at the Kewaunee Fire Dept. We wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas
This is why you should never plug space heaters into power strips
Heating elements in a space heater can get up to more than 500°F to 600°F, firefighters say.
Just a reminder to turn your clocks back one hour tonight, also it’s a good time to change your batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors
Any smoke alarm ten years old or older should be replaced and any carbon monoxide detector 7 years old or older needs to be replaced

Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸 Please be careful and use common sense if you’re lighting off fireworks, things can go bad very fast
Have a fun but safe holiday weekend and please exercise caution and good judgement during your festivities
Just a reminder to everyone
Just a reminder about illegal fireworks. We have not had many problems so far this year. Please, let's keep it that way. We appreciate everyone's cooperation with this.

BEACH GOERS-- While temperatures will be hot tomorrow, be aware that dangerous swimming conditions are expected for beaches along Lake Michigan. High waves will lead to strong currents. Practice beach safety.

Press Release: Fire Hall Museum Turned-Over to the City
Mark your calendars, The Kewaunee Fire Dept. spring brat fry is less than a month away! May 11th from 11 am until 10 pm
A reminder with all the snow and blowing snow we have been having to keep your furnace exhaust vents and gas meters clear of snow
City of Kewaunee Police Department
Just a reminder that today is the statewide tornado drill.
If you haven’t already done so turn your clocks ahead, but now is an excellent time to change the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms.
Also it’s a good time to check the date of manufacture, any smoke alarm older than 10 years should be replaced and any carbon monoxide alarm 7 years old needs to be replaced. Remember to also test them once a month to make sure they’re in good working order.
Just remember, the smell of smoke will not wake someone up if they’re sleeping and carbon monoxide is odorless and colorless making it undetectable.
Happy New Year!! From all of us at the Kewaunee Fire Department!!
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
'Tis the season. As you begin to decorate for the holidays, please stay safe and water your trees daily! This video shows just how quickly a dried out Christmas tree fire burns, with flashover occurring in less than one minute, as compared to a well-watered tree, which burns at a much slower rate. (Thanks to U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission for their assistance!)
A HUGE Thank You to everyone that contributed towards the museum!
Finishing touches are being put on exhibits at the new Kewaunee Fire Museum.
