🐢 **Happy Turtle Season in Key Colony Beach!** 🐢
We’re excited to share some wonderful news—there are two sea turtle nests on our beach! 🎉

As nesting season is underway, this is a great reminder that we all play an important role in protecting these incredible marine visitors and their future hatchlings.

🌙 Keep beaches dark at night by turning off or shielding beachfront lights.
🏖️ Leave beaches clean and flat by filling in holes and knocking down sandcastles before you leave.
🪑 Remove chairs, tents, and beach equipment from the beach each evening.
🚯 Dispose of trash properly and help keep our shoreline clean.

While we celebrate this exciting milestone, we are not sharing the nest location to help protect the turtles and their habitat.

Thank you to our partners and volunteers who work tirelessly to protect sea turtles throughout the Florida Keys. Together, we can help ensure a successful nesting season for these amazing creatures.

Registration Deadline Coming up!!

Good Afternoon,

This is a final reminder that the petition deadline for the upcoming 2026 Election Cycle is approaching. All candidate petitions must be submitted to the Supervisor of Elections Office for verification no later than 12:00 PM (Noon) on May 11, 2026.

Required Steps:

• Candidates must schedule and attend an appointment with the City Clerk to complete all required paperwork, including the Appointment of Campaign Treasurer Form (DSDE-9).

• After completing the required paperwork, candidates may begin soliciting for petitions. Candidates may also open a campaign bank account, which is required in order to pay for petition verification by writing a check to the Supervisor of Elections.

• Completed petitions must be submitted to the Supervisor of Elections Office for verification by the deadline.

Please note: Petition verification services must be paid with a campaign check, and petitions cannot be verified without it.

Our community recently lost a most familiar face, Chet Dunn, who passed away last week. Chet was a valued and integral part of our city, and his presence will be deeply missed.

We know many of you have fond memories, stories, and moments that made Chet so meaningful to this community. We invite residents to share your thoughts, condolences, and memories as we honor his life and legacy.

Hi everyone,
Tomorrow’s Work Party will be held at the Coconut Path and will feature the unveiling of our new Orchid ICU, designed to support the rehab and recovery of orchids donated by snowbirds heading north.
🌸 Orchid Donations Welcome!You can drop off orchids anywhere along the Coconut Path or at the canal end, where the recovery area is located.
🕙 Work Party Time: Wednesday, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
All are welcome to join the Beautification Committee!

🌊 Volunteers Needed – Utility Board Openings 🌊

The City is currently seeking community members to serve on the Utility Board. There are three openings available: one full-time position and two alternate positions. This board plays a vital role in supporting the City Commission by providing input on important matters such as the wastewater treatment plant and stormwater improvement projects—key initiatives that impact our entire community.

🗓 Meetings are held just once per month, making this a great opportunity to get involved without a large time commitment.
🏡 Full-time residents are especially encouraged to apply.
