🐒 Another Successful Sea Turtle Nest Hatching in KCB 🌴
We have some exciting turtle news from Key Colony Beach!
Save A Turtle excavated Turtle Nest #3 last night, and it was another success! πŸ’πŸ’™
The inventory of the nest showed that 105 baby sea turtles successfully hatched a few nights ago. The nest was exceptionally deep, making this discovery even more exciting.
🌊 Three Successful Nests This Season!
This marks the third successful sea turtle nest hatching of the season in Key Colony Beach. What a wonderful accomplishment for our community and the turtles!
That concludes the current KCB nests, unless we identify a new nest.
A big thank-you to Save A Turtle and everyone who helps protect and monitor these amazing visitors to our beaches.
πŸ’πŸ’™ Yay, KCB Turtle Babies! πŸ’™πŸ’
We are so proud to be part of a community that works together to protect our sea turtles and their nests.

🐒 Another Sea Turtle Success Story in Key Colony Beach! 🐒

Our second sea turtle nest of the season has been excavated, and we're thrilled to report that 85 hatchlings successfully emerged last Saturday night!

During the excavation, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) collected eggshell samples that will help researchers learn more about sea turtle hatchling biology. Best of all, no hatchlings remained in the nest.

A big thank you to Save A Turtle, FWC, and all the dedicated volunteers who continue to protect these amazing animals.

What a wonderful reminder of what makes Key Colony Beach so special! πŸ’šπŸ’

During a routine post-hatch nest inventory, our dedicated Save-A-Turtle volunteers discovered six live sea turtle hatchlings trapped beneath roots. The tiny turtles were carefully rescued and taken to The Turtle Hospital for a little extra care to strengthen their flippers.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing volunteers and The Turtle Hospital for their dedication to protecting our local wildlife.
If you'd like to see the rescue, The Turtle Hospital captured the excavation on video and shared it on their page.
