🦋🪰🦇 Happy Pollinator Week! 🪰🦇🦋
Photographed here is the Martial Scrub-Hairstreak butterfly, an important native pollinator in Key Largo. This butterfly is on its host plant, Bay Cedar.
Pollinators are essential to our ecosystems because they move pollen between plants. Butterflies sip nectar from plants and the pollen sticks to their legs. When they go to another plant to sip nectar, they transfer pollen!!
What’s your favorite pollinator?
