Same lagoon, same behavior, and a bond that’s only grown stronger over the last 15 years. ❤️

In animal care, relationships are everything. Every interaction helps build the trust that allows the connection between trainer and dolphin to truly flourish.

These bonds, however, aren't built overnight. What you’re seeing here is more than a trained behavior— it’s the result of years of consistency, dedication, and mutual trust. Every session, every interaction, and every choice to work together adds another layer to an ever-evolving partnership.

Alfonz isn’t just performing a behavior here; he’s choosing to participate in a relationship he’s known for over a decade. And through all these years, Jessica has continued showing up for him (and the rest of our pod), learning and growing alongside them every step of the way. 🥹

At Dolphins Plus, protecting the ecosystems we depend on is at the heart of everything we do. 🩵🐬

That’s why we’re always proud to take part in the I.CARE Trash Derby!

In just a few hours, our team removed 690.6 lbs of marine debris. Across the entire event, participants collected an incredible 34,696 lbs of trash!

Now, we’re keeping that momentum going— join us as we celebrate World Oceans Day with a special event in June dedicated to celebrating and protecting the waters we love. 🌎✨

Alexa first joined our team as an intern last year and, after completing her internship, stepped into a seasonal role as a husbandry assistant. Working in the animal care field is full of fun days and dolphin cuddles, but there is so much more…

It takes dedication, passion, and hard work— 365 days a year!

Early mornings, heavy-lifting, and constant learning are all part of the journey. From preparing diets to training behaviors, every day looks a little different— but each task plays a vital role in the well-being of the animals.

The biggest (and most important) part of the job is providing the animals with the best possible care, of course! 🐬

From CT scans to getting their teeth brushed, our dolphins are trained to voluntarily participate in their own healthcare. This requires an immense amount of trust in their care team, helping ensure they remain calm and comfortable throughout the process. These behaviors are built over time through consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement. 🐟
