Congratulations to our very own BM2 John Harte for being selected as 2023 Key West Military Member of the Year.

During his his time on KATHLEEN MOORE, he has qualified as a Deck Watch Officer, Law Enforcement Instructor, Fi****ms Marksman Coach and is a part of the ship’s pursuit crew.

He has insured the care of over 1,000 migrants and trained watchstanders all around Sector Key West for interdiction operations.

His unwavering commitment to duty, combined with his exceptional leadership aboard the Kathleen Moore, undoubtedly contributed to this prestigious recognition. Harte's professionalism and dedication serve as a testament to the values upheld by the United States military and inspire others to strive for excellence in their own endeavors.

After a few long weeks of inspections and training, the KATHLEEN MOORE crew gathered to recognize some of our shipmates.

BM2 John Tucker received his 2nd Good Conduct Award. Incredible!

DC2 Keith Widener receives a well deserved CG Achievement Medal from his tour at MAT Key West. Welcome aboard DC2!

Last but not least, GM2 Reed Roher receives a Commandant’s Letter of Commendation for his outstanding performance. GM2 has helped qualify over 5 Quartermasters, and scheduled two range days which directly resulted in the certification of our pursuit and LE teams. You can never catch GM2 at work without a smile on his face! Bravo Zulu and a job well done “Guns”!

Today we held our Change of Command celebration. LT. Epperly relieved LT. Collins of duty in a long standing tradition. US Coast Guard Sector Key West Commander CAPT. Ingram presided over the event.

We’d like to thank former CO Andrew Collins for his hard work, constant positive attitude, fearless leadership, and utmost respect to others during his duty as skipper onboard. LT. Collins will now pursue his MBA at University California at Davis this Fall. Bravo Zulu shipmate! Fair winds and Following Seas!

We’d also like to say good luck to our new CO LT. Epperly, the crew is excited to show what they are capable of.

Nothing builds camaraderie and team spirit like a good old-fashioned paintball battle. The crew of the Kathleen Moore spent the day dodging paintballs and strategizing together, strengthening their bonds and honing their teamwork skills.
