Recently, the crew of CGC Mohawk gathered to celebrate a major milestone as three shipmates earned their Permanent Cutterman’s Insignia. First instituted in 1974, this prestigious pin is awarded to members who have accumulated five years of sea time and recognizes the immense dedication and professionalism required to endure the rigors of sea duty. The insignia’s design tells their story: the wheel and waves represent our heritage of the sea, the five-point star symbolizes five years of service underway, and the shield represents the Coast Guard’s proud seagoing tradition. Bravo Zulu to our newest Cuttermen on this major career accomplishment! 🌊⭐🛡️

On Memorial Day, crewmembers of CGC Mohawk paused to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice to our Nation in the location of the sunken USCGC Mohawk (WPG-78). We proudly carry forward the legacy of our WWII era namesake, which shaped history by providing Gen. Eisenhower with the crucial weather report launching the Allies D-Day invasion. Today, our crew continues the same standard of operational excellence, readiness, and service to our Nation. Eight bells and Taps for our heroes. We have the watch.

In just three days, CGC Mohawk (WMEC 913) will arrive in New Orleans, Louisiana, to participate in SAIL250. This historic event celebrates America's 250th anniversary with the largest international flotilla of tall ships ever assembled. We invite the public to join us onboard for a tour of CGC Mohawk to learn more about the U.S. Coast Guard's vital missions of saving lives and securing our nation's borders.

Welcome home to the crew of U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mohawk!

Following a 60-day maritime security patrol in the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of America, the Mohawk crew returned to Key West. Throughout the deployment, the crew boarded and escorted two sanctioned oil tankers, Centuries and Veronica, preventing the illicit trade of crude oil in violation of international law.

The back-to-back escorts totaled 17 days and covered a combined 2,700 nautical miles, showcasing the incredible endurance and commitment of our service members.
"Our dedicated crews are the frontline of maritime security," said Cmdr. Taylor Kellogg, commanding officer of Mohawk. "This is a clear demonstration of the Coast Guard's commitment to enforcing international law and our vital role in the Joint Force."

This mission was part of Operation Southern Spear, a joint effort with the U.S. Department of War and Department of Homeland Security to maintain stability in the maritime domain.
Bravo Zulu to the entire crew for their selfless service and devotion to duty!
