Recently, the crew of CGC Mohawk gathered to celebrate a major milestone as three shipmates earned their Permanent Cutterman’s Insignia. First instituted in 1974, this prestigious pin is awarded to members who have accumulated five years of sea time and recognizes the immense dedication and professionalism required to endure the rigors of sea duty. The insignia’s design tells their story: the wheel and waves represent our heritage of the sea, the five-point star symbolizes five years of service underway, and the shield represents the Coast Guard’s proud seagoing tradition. Bravo Zulu to our newest Cuttermen on this major career accomplishment! 🌊⭐🛡️
