Welcome home to the crew of U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mohawk!

Following a 60-day maritime security patrol in the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of America, the Mohawk crew returned to Key West. Throughout the deployment, the crew boarded and escorted two sanctioned oil tankers, Centuries and Veronica, preventing the illicit trade of crude oil in violation of international law.

The back-to-back escorts totaled 17 days and covered a combined 2,700 nautical miles, showcasing the incredible endurance and commitment of our service members.
"Our dedicated crews are the frontline of maritime security," said Cmdr. Taylor Kellogg, commanding officer of Mohawk. "This is a clear demonstration of the Coast Guard's commitment to enforcing international law and our vital role in the Joint Force."

This mission was part of Operation Southern Spear, a joint effort with the U.S. Department of War and Department of Homeland Security to maintain stability in the maritime domain.
Bravo Zulu to the entire crew for their selfless service and devotion to duty!

CGC Mohawk would like to extend a special thanks to RADM Chamie for presiding over the ceremony. We would also like to thank every one that attended the event and the hard work of the crew to make the ceremony possible.

To CDR Ratner, thank you for your leadership, wisdom, and many memories. Congratulations on a distinguished tour and good luck on your next assignment at the National Defense University. Fair Winds and Following Seas!

CDR Kellogg, CGC Mohawk’s newest Commanding Officer, shared “I am excited and privileged to assume command of Mohawk. I look forward to sailing with the dedicated crew and continuing this cutter’s long history of success.”

Happy Ombudsman Appreciation Day!

Today, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude to our dedicated Mohawk Ombudsmen, as well as all those who have previously served in this vital role.

Ombudsmen are volunteers who serve as the crucial link between Coast Guard unit commands and the families of our personnel. As official members of the unit’s leadership team, they offer invaluable support by providing information, resources, and advocacy to our families.

Thank you to our Ombudsmen, Ana and Sarah, for their unwavering commitment to ensuring the well-being of our families and supporting the unit's readiness.
