Welcome home to the crew of U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mohawk!
Following a 60-day maritime security patrol in the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of America, the Mohawk crew returned to Key West. Throughout the deployment, the crew boarded and escorted two sanctioned oil tankers, Centuries and Veronica, preventing the illicit trade of crude oil in violation of international law.
The back-to-back escorts totaled 17 days and covered a combined 2,700 nautical miles, showcasing the incredible endurance and commitment of our service members.
"Our dedicated crews are the frontline of maritime security," said Cmdr. Taylor Kellogg, commanding officer of Mohawk. "This is a clear demonstration of the Coast Guard's commitment to enforcing international law and our vital role in the Joint Force."
This mission was part of Operation Southern Spear, a joint effort with the U.S. Department of War and Department of Homeland Security to maintain stability in the maritime domain.
Bravo Zulu to the entire crew for their selfless service and devotion to duty!
