🚨 2026 HURRICANE SEASON IS HERE 🚨

Today, June 1st, marks the official start of the 2026 Hurricane Season, which runs through November 30th.

⚓ PORT STATUS UPDATE: We have officially set Port Condition IV (PORTCON IV) for the Ports of Key West, Marathon, and Islamorada, signifying that the ports are open, but we are maintaining a constant state of readiness in anticipation of any potential storms.

🗺️ NEW FOR 2026: This year, we have divided the Sector Key West Area of Responsibility into three distinct ports. This strategic change allows us to individually close and re-open each port based on the anticipated arrival of gale-force winds (greater than 34 knots / 39 mph) and localized storm impacts.

This localized approach helps us minimize disruptions while prioritizing your safety.

Make sure your hurricane kits are stocked and your plans are up to date!

Stay safe, stay informed, and always be prepared.

USCG Sector Key West personnel are responding to a 48-ft vessel that sank at Perry Marina in Key West, with an estimated pollution potential of 700 gallons of diesel fuel.

Coast Guard Environmental Response Investigators observed an active diesel discharge from the vessel’s bow and stern. Working with commerical salvage and the Marina personnel, containment boom was deployed around the vessel to help protect the surrounding waterways and marine environment.

The Coast Guard Federal On Scene Coordinator authorized the use of federal funds to lift the vessel and remove all remaining fuel and oil from the vessel.

The U.S. Coast Guard remains committed to protecting the sensitive marine environment of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. We thank the Marina personnel for their swift response and continued partnership.

U.S. Coast Guard Sector Key West rescue crews responded to a vessel fire near Wisteria Island, Friday, after receiving a report over VHF Channel 16.

A Coast Guard Station Key West boat crew arrived on scene and established a safety zone while searching for any potential persons in the area. Coast Guard Environmental Response Investigators also responded and deployed a small unmanned aircraft to assist with oversight.

Working alongside Key West Fire Department, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Key West Police Department, and Monroe County Sheriff's Office, responders confirmed the vessel was unoccupied and the fire was extinguished safely.

A small non-recoverable sheen was observed near the vessel, but is actively dissipating. There are currently no significant pollution concerns associated with the incident.

Thanks to the readiness and coordination of our Sector Key West personnel, alongside our Key West partners, our community remains safe from unpredictable threats to our maritime domain.
