On Saturday, November 1st, the City of Key West and Waste Management will be holding the monthly free drop off for hazardous waste and e-waste. The service, available to Key West residents only, is held at Indigenous Park on White Street from 8 a.m. until noon.
Items accepted will be household chemicals and electronics such as but not limited to gasoline (in a leakproof container), oil, batteries, acids, poisons, cleaners, fertilizers, pool chemicals, TVs, microwaves, gaming systems, phones, computer parts and accessories, remote controls, etc.
You can also dispose of lithium-ion batteries. Lithium-ion batteries are dangerous if disposed of in your regular waste. They can cause fire in the trash pick-up trucks as they are transported.
Key West Fire Marshal Jason Barroso and the team at Waste Management want to encourage everyone to take advantage of this service. The drop-off is quick and easy, and best of all, youβre helping keep our community safe.
They will not be accepting any household garbage or appliances.
