We were thrilled to welcome St. Peter's United Methodist back to Key West for two action-packed days of volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys!

Day One took us to Rockland Key, where this hardworking crew tackled the daunting task of emptying an entire Connex box. They sorted supplies, organized everything into manageable piles, and hauled away years' worth of debris—all under the Florida sun. Their positive attitudes and willingness to jump into such a grueling project made an enormous difference.

A special thank you to for taking the Connex off our hands and for their planned donation for our leftover tools. Community partnerships like these help us continue serving local families.

Day Two brought the team back to our Eisenhower Apartments, where they jumped right back into action. They cleared fallen palm fronds from the property, unloaded our Habitat van that had been packed to the brim from the Connex cleanout, and transformed an empty apartment by carefully taping and painting the white trim in preparation for its next residents.

Their energy, teamwork, and willingness to jump into every task made a huge impact. We are so grateful they chose to spend part of their summer serving our community once again.

From Habitat homeowner to statewide leader.

We're excited to congratulate Terence on his appointment to the Board of Habitat for Humanity of Florida, where he will serve in the organization's dedicated homeowner board seat.

This position was created to ensure the voices and experiences of Habitat homeowners are represented at the leadership table. Terence will help shape conversations that support Habitat affiliates across Florida while bringing the unique perspective of Key West and the Lower Keys.

"I look forward to sharing the experiences and perspectives of our local affiliate while working with Habitat leaders across the state to strengthen homeownership opportunities for families."

Terence was nominated by our Executive Director, Kristina, and selected following an interview process with members of the Florida Board.

From homeowner to employee and now State board member, Terence's journey is a testament to the lasting impact of Habitat's mission. We are incredibly proud to see him representing our affiliate and communities across the state, and we know his experience and passion will make a meaningful difference.

Welcome Home!

Two weeks ago, we had the privilege of celebrating another incredible milestone as the keys to a new Habitat home were placed into the hands of a deserving family.

Congratulations to the Castillo/Moreno family on your new home! We are honored to be part of your journey and can’t wait to see the memories you’ll create for years to come.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Publix Super Market Charities and their community grant program, five local households now have safer, more accessible places to call home.

The funding helped provide a wheelchair-accessible bathroom for a disabled senior citizen, allowing him to safely age in place and maintain his independence. It also supported renovations for four other families on Stock Island, improving housing for four local families and creating updated, comfortable homes they can continue to build their lives in.

These projects may look different, but they share the same goal: preserving housing, strengthening our community, and helping our neighbors continue to thrive in the Lower Keys.

We are grateful to for investing in local families and helping make safe, affordable housing a reality here in the Lower Keys.
