A 25-year-old Marathon, Florida man was arrested on June 10, 2026, after fleeing the Sheriff’s Office on U.S. 1, reaching speeds of 120 mph. A Sheriff’s Office Deputy injured her hand while deploying tire spikes and is being treated at a Miami hospital. Her injuries are not life-threatening.

Aaron Scout Tipsword was charged with DUI causing serious bodily injury, fleeing and eluding, resisting arrest, dangerous/excessive speeding, criminal mischief with property damage, possession of ma*****na, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Sheriff’s Office had contact with Tipsword several times Tuesday night due to his erratic behavior, however, he did not meet involuntary Baker Act criteria. A family member later requested a welfare check on Tipsword. The Sheriff’s Office observed Tipsword behind the wheel of a Honda SUV at approximately 5:30 a.m. Wednesday near Mile Marker 30 on Big Pine Key. He was stopped and continued to exhibit unusual behavior — his speech pattern was abnormal; he had difficulty completing sentences and was wearing a heavy jacket and gloves despite warm temperatures.

Tipsword refused to provide his driver’s license and sped away northbound. He illegally passed multiple vehicles while speeding and driving recklessly. Tipsword’s vehicle was spiked several times during the incident. He eventually turned onto 39th Street in Marathon, struck a boulder, and was taken into custody.

Tipsword was taken to jail. The Deputy injured while deploying tire spikes remained at Jackson Memorial Hospital on Wednesday.

Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Detectives arrested four people after one person was stabbed with a sword and robbed on Stock Island on June 7, 2026. The injury — a punctured lung — did not appear to be life-threatening as of Monday.

“I want to thank the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office for their quick work in finding and arresting those responsible in this case,” said Sheriff Rick Ramsay.

Those arrested:

• Marlon Albero Bernal Cabrera, 20, of Stock Island, Florida, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and kidnapping/false imprisonment.
• Jasmine Elizabeth Jones, 29, of Stock Island, Florida, was charged with kidnapping/false imprisonment.
• Zjiavon Deaute Green, 31, of Stock Island, Forida, was charged with kidnapping/false imprisonment.
• Arlem Cristina Silva Cruz, 39, of Stock Island, Florida, was charged with kidnapping/false imprisonment, possession of methamphetamine, possession of prescription pills without a prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to the Lower Keys Medical Center on Stock Island at approximately 3:45 p.m. regarding an adult female with a stab wound. She was also robbed of a laptop computer and Diazepam medication during the same incident while at a camper/trailer on 10th Avenue earlier in the day.

Bernal Cabrera stabbed the victim during the altercation. According to the victim, other suspects took part in the incident by holding her down, or hitting her, or otherwise preventing her from leaving. The suspects eventually allowed the victim to change out of bloody clothes and go to the hospital.

Silva Cruz was in possession of a Diazepam pill, methamphetamine, and a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue at the time of her arrest. The sword used in the incident and bloody clothes belonging to the victim were found at the scene during the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.
