Over the weekend, the duty section received an urgent call from a Good Samaritan reporting a sailboat rapidly taking on water in the city mooring field. With nightfall shrouding the area, the 27 and 33 raced to the scene, navigating through multiple vessels. Upon arrival, the crew of the 27 swiftly deployed a P-6 pump, battling against the rising tide inside the vessel. Just as the situation intensified, commercial salvage arrived to bolster the efforts. After a relentless fight against the flooding, the crews discovered and secured the source of the breach.

Recently Station Key West members trained to maintain readiness to respond to distressed persons in the water via deployable surface swimmers. All boat crew members qualify as surface swimmers, ready to enter the water to save drowning or distressed victims in hard to reach areas.
