We are blessed to be the Sloppy Joe's Foundation Caturday nonprofit in the month of October.
October has five Saturdays so we need a team of dedicated volunteers to assist us.

Samuel’s House is proud to share this wonderful community event happening tomorrow in recognition of Women’s Equality Day.

Key West NOW is bringing women together for an afternoon of connection, education and empowerment, with important conversations surrounding financial stability, women’s health, safety, healthy relationships and equality — issues that closely align with the work we do every day supporting women and families in our community.

12:30–2:30 p.m.

We are always grateful to see organizations in our community creating spaces where women can learn, connect, find resources and support one another.

For 250 years, generations have fought, sacrificed, persevered, and dreamed in pursuit of liberty, opportunity, and hope. Today, we honor the spirit of resilience, unity, and community that continues to bring us together.

Today, we celebrate and honor the fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, and father figures whose love, strength, sacrifice, and guidance help shape families and communities every single day.

We recognize the profound impact that caring and supportive fathers have in the lives of children and families. Whether through quiet encouragement, unwavering protection, hard work, or unconditional love — your presence matters more than words can express.

Today, we also hold space for those missing their fathers, those navigating difficult journeys, and those striving every day to be the father they may not have had themselves.

To all the dads and father figures in our community — thank you for the love you give, the sacrifices you make, and the hope you inspire.

A HUGE and heartfelt THANK YOU to the Key West National Organization for Women (NOW) and Darlene Thomas, President of NOW for their generous donation of hygiene supplies to the residents of our Mary Spottswood Women’s Center! ❤️

This beautiful outpouring of support — including feminine hygiene products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, hair care items, and other personal essentials — means more than words can express to the women and families we serve.

Many of the single women and mothers arriving at our emergency shelter come with little more than the clothing on their backs. Donations like these provide dignity, comfort, and hope during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives, helping residents begin the first important steps toward healing and stabilization.

Your compassion and generosity remind our residents that they are seen, valued, and supported by a community that truly cares.

Thank you for making a meaningful difference in the lives of so many women and families at Samuel’s House. We are deeply grateful for your kindness and partnership in our mission. 💜

Last night’s Miss Island Queen event was nothing short of extraordinary — a radiant celebration of heart, courage, and community that left us deeply moved and overwhelmingly grateful. Because of YOU, this year’s event helped us reach a powerful milestone… surpassing HALF A MILLION dollars raised over the last five years in support of Samuel’s House. 💫

To our 2026 Miss Island Queen, Auna Bender (Scottie Jahn) — congratulations on your well-deserved crown and for your incredible fundraising achievement. 👑 Your passion and dedication truly embody the spirit of this event.

To each and every contestant — you are ALL queens. Your bravery, commitment, and love for this mission are what make this event so magical year after year.
