Forever Chemicals (PFAS) are not an immediate health risk. The CDPHE and EPA are concerned about the accumulation of the chemicals in humans over the long term. The chemicals are found in products such as Teflon, Gortex, Scotchguard, and ski wax.

Please see our website for more information. There are several press releases and news articles.

SnakeRiverWater.com

Snake River Water District is pleased to announce a new website for communications with our customers. We are posting press releases, news articles, meeting notices, and official documents on the front page of the site. We hope that you will find this helpful whenever you would like to know more about your water company. This will be a primary method of communication with the constituents in Keystone.

When you go to SnakeRiverWater.com, you will notice that it redirects to https://snakeriverwater.colorado.gov/. That is the official hosting place for Colorado government websites, and we have recently converted to the state’s technology. The most important benefit is to be in compliance with standards required by new state law HB21-1110 for accessibility. We have invested in making all content accessible to those with disabilities. If anyone has any trouble accessing any information on our website, please contact us.

We will post information regularly. We have many capital improvement projects that are underway or scheduled in the 10 Year Master Plan. Sometimes the construction may impact you or inconvenience your neighborhood, and we will share updates on our website for you. For example, Loveland Pass Village will have new water mains installed this summer. We will also provide updates on our water quality testing, and specifically information about the detection of PFAS in our water supply.

01/22/2024

The Snake River Water District (District) notified customers in September, via mailer, that PFAS compounds were found in drinking water during mandatory testing completed earlier in 2023.

The District has moved forward with additional voluntary testing and will soon post results to its website – SnakeRiverWater.com. Additional sampling will be completed throughout 2024 and the District’s website will be used for updates as information becomes available.

The District may also begin evaluation of treatment options for PFAS removal this year as sample results become available. Further information on PFAS is currently available on the District website.
